Nintendo is taking applications to participate in a mysterious test for Switch Online

Nintendo invites users to apply to test a new feature for Nintendo Switch Online. However, the company has not yet shared any details about what this new feature is.

This invitation also raises speculation about what the new feature will be, considering that Nintendo continues to surprise its users with innovative products, such as the recent release of a motion-controlled alarm clock. According to some speculations, this test could be a preview of some new features for the much-anticipated Switch 2.

Applications will begin on Thursday, October 10 at 18:00 CET and will end on Tuesday, October 15 at 17:59 CET. Those who want to apply can do so by clicking the “Go to Application Page” link on the page. According to Nintendo’s statement, participants outside Japan will be accepted in order of application. However, participants from Japan will be determined by lottery in case of high demand.

Users who want to apply must meet certain conditions. These conditions will be valid as of 23:00 on Wednesday, October 9, when the application announcement was made. The terms are as follows:

  • Have a Nintendo Account
  • Becoming a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack member
  • Being at least 18 years old
  • Be a registered user in Japan, USA, UK, France, Germany, Italy or Spain

Nintendo plans to keep Switch Online testing limited to 10 thousand users

Nintendo plans to keep this test limited to a maximum of 10 thousand participants. The company states that it may close applications early when the limit of applications is reached. Users who are eligible to participate will have to download “special software” to their Nintendo Switch devices to participate in the test.

This mysterious test will start on October 23 at 04:00 CET and will end on November 5 at 02:59 CET. It is a matter of curiosity which feature Nintendo will try with this test, but participants will have the opportunity to experience this new feature early.
