Microsoft Edge Game Assist redefines the gaming experience

Microsoft opened the Microsoft Edge Game Assist feature, a new in-game browser interface developed for Windows 11 users, to beta testing. Game Assist is designed as a browser interface integrated into the Microsoft Game Bar and provides quick access to guides and tips for the game you are playing. This new feature can be easily fixed on the screen during the game and offers access to personal data using your Edge browser’s login information.

The most striking aspect of Game Assist is its ability to detect the game you are playing and provide you with special information. For now this “game aware” function is only Baldur’s Gate 3, Diablo IV And Hellblade II: Senua’s Saga Limited to a few games like. However, Microsoft plans to expand this list and provide support for more games throughout the preview period. On the other hand, in unsupported games, users may need to find content manually.

This new feature integrates with your Edge browser’s database, providing easy access to personal data such as cookies, favorites and autofill. In this way, users do not waste time logging into guides or game-related sites. Moreover, like other Game Bar widgets, Game Assist is fixed on the screen, allowing you to access information without interrupting your gaming experience.

Microsoft Edge Game Assist technical requirements and installation process

To benefit from the beta version of Game Assist, you need to set Microsoft Edge Beta 132 as the default browser. In addition, you need to make sure that your Windows 11 operating system and Game Bar application are up to date.

Users must first install Edge’s Beta channel, then enable the “Game Assist” widget from the Settings menu. If you haven’t used the Edge Beta before, you may need to restart the browser a few times until the widget option appears.

Microsoft attaches great importance to the feedback it collects for Game Assist. Users can share their suggestions and criticisms via Game Assist or the newly opened community portal. The company also closely monitors comments from the r/MicrosoftEdge community on Reddit and social media platforms.

Game Assist, which currently only supports mouse and keyboard, is planned to be compatible with handheld consoles and game controllers in the future. However, it is stated that compact mode support will be available soon. Such innovations increase Game Assist’s potential to expand its user base.

Game Assist stands out as a feature designed specifically for players to quickly access guides and strategy information during the game. In addition, the personal data integration and game awareness feature it offers with the Edge browser make this application user-friendly. This feature, developed by Microsoft in line with the goal of enriching the gaming experience, will be further developed with the feedback collected during the preview process.
