Microsoft CEO Nadella spoke assertively for the new OpenAI agreement

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella made evaluations about the company’s position after the updated collaboration with OpenAI. Answering a direct question from a Wall Street analyst, Nadella said the deal was balanced for both parties. Stating that they base their cooperation on mutual benefit, Nadella stated that this approach is decisive for the sustainability of long-term partnerships. Initial evaluations show that Microsoft has both protected its technological access and reshaped its financial obligations with this new regulation.

According to Nadella’s statements, Microsoft continues to maintain access to intellectual property, including models and artificial intelligence agents developed by OpenAI. Despite this, it is noteworthy that the company no longer pays for this access. The royalty-free usage right, valid until 2032, allows Microsoft to act more flexibly in product development processes in the field of artificial intelligence. While evaluating this situation, Nadella clearly stated that the company plans to actively use the technology in question.

Microsoft continues to grow in artificial intelligence revenues

Comments were made that the new agreement could weaken Microsoft’s competitive advantage because it no longer provides exclusive access to OpenAI technologies. In particular, the collaborations announced by OpenAI with Amazon led to evaluations that the balances in the industry may change. Despite this, Nadella stated that he found these concerns limited. The company’s latest financial results also seem to support this approach.

According to the data announced by Microsoft, the artificial intelligence-focused business line recorded 123 percent annual growth and reached a revenue level of 37 billion dollars. This figure reveals that the company’s revenue from cloud and artificial intelligence integration is rapidly increasing. In addition, it is noteworthy that OpenAI continues to be one of Microsoft’s important customers. The company uses Microsoft infrastructure not only in artificial intelligence accelerators but also in its wide-ranging cloud services.

On the other hand, Microsoft’s 27 percent stake in OpenAI and OpenAI’s commitment to purchase cloud services worth more than 250 billion dollars show that the bond between the two companies remains strong financially. This reveals that the partnership is not only limited to technology sharing, but is also supported by long-term commercial relationships.

Nadella also emphasized that corporate customers increasingly prefer to use multiple artificial intelligence models at the same time. Drawing attention to Microsoft’s capacity to offer models from different providers, the CEO stated that customers can choose OpenAI, Anthropic or open source solutions according to their needs. According to the company’s data, more than 10 thousand customers have experience working with more than one model. This approach allows Microsoft to offer a broader ecosystem without being dependent on a single technology.
