After a long break, Lenovo returned to the smartphone market with the Legion Y70 model. Nearly four years have passed since the Legion Y90, the last phone the company released under its own brand. The new Legion Y70 draws attention with its technical features aimed especially at mobile game users. While the most prominent aspect of the device is its 8000 mAh battery, upper segment components such as Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor and 144 Hz screen also accompany the model. Lenovo has started the pre-order process of the phone in China.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor is preferred in Legion Y70. Although it seems that the standard variant is used instead of the Elite version, current standards are included on the memory side of the device. The phone comes with 12 GB or 16 GB LPDDR5X RAM options and it is stated that the memory speed reaches up to 9600 Mbps. On the storage side, 256 GB capacity with UFS 4.1 standard is offered. Among the options announced by Lenovo, there are also higher storage combinations.
A large vapor chamber cooling system is used to ensure that the device maintains temperature control under intense use. It is stated that this 5500 mm² system can reduce the processor core temperature by up to 7 degrees. While thermal performance is critical for long-term use in mobile game-oriented models, Lenovo seems to have preferred an aggressive cooling approach here. Despite this, it can be said that the actual usage performance of the device will be revealed more clearly through independent tests.
Lenovo Legion Y70 stands out with its high capacity battery
The most striking component of the Legion Y70 is undoubtedly its battery. The phone has a very large battery with a capacity of 8000 mAh. In addition, 90W fast charging support is also offered. Lenovo also includes a bypass charging feature. Thanks to this system, the phone can receive energy directly from the adapter while playing games and the battery is aimed to heat up less. Keeping the battery temperature under control, especially during long gaming sessions, can be advantageous in terms of performance.
The company states that the phone can offer up to two days of usage. In addition, it is claimed that the battery health will maintain its efficiency after approximately 1200 charging cycles or seven years of use. While battery capacity has been on the rise again in the smartphone market recently, it is noteworthy that Lenovo offers a very assertive capacity here. However, detailed information about the weight and thickness of the device has not been shared yet.
The phone has a 6.8 inch OLED panel on the screen side. Offering a 144 Hz refresh rate, the screen aims for a smoother experience, especially in games. Lenovo also explains that the screen offers a peak brightness value that can reach 7000 nits. Dolby Vision support is also among the features offered by the panel. While the high brightness level may provide an advantage in outdoor use, the OLED panel is expected to meet upper segment expectations in terms of image quality.
Three different sensors stand out in the camera system. The main camera uses a 50 megapixel resolution, 1/1.56 inch sensor and f/1.8 aperture. In addition, there is an 8 megapixel ultra wide angle camera. It is stated that this sensor can focus as close as 2.5 centimeters. On the front, there is a 32 megapixel selfie camera. Camera features aim to meet daily use needs as well as game-oriented structure.
The pre-order process for Lenovo Legion Y70 has started in China. The starting price of the model was announced as 3099 yuan. Users can choose between two different color options: Ice White and Carbon Black. On the memory and storage side, different options are offered, starting from 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage and extending to 16 GB RAM and 1 TB storage.
