According to information from Evan Blass, a reliable source in the technology world, Lenovo is expected to introduce its new Copilot Plus computer series soon. It is reported that this series will include affordable options as well as models with Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus processors that have not yet been officially released. Lenovo’s move coincides with its goal of increasing competition in the computer market and allowing users to choose from a wider range of products.
According to leaked information, Lenovo’s new series will consist of two main models: the IdeaPad 5x 2-in-1 and the IdeaPad Slim 5x. Both models will be equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Plus processor. This processor comes with 8 cores, unlike the previous 10-core Snapdragon model, which means that the devices can offer a different balance in terms of performance and energy efficiency.
The IdeaPad 5x 2-in-1 model stands out with its 14-inch OLED screen and convertible structure. This model offers a flexible solution that users can use as both a tablet and a laptop. On the other hand, the IdeaPad Slim 5x is designed as a laptop with a full metal chassis and offers an optional 14-inch OLED screen option. The target audience of both models seems to be users who are looking for a high-performance laptop but do not want to exceed their budget.
Lenovo to intensify competition with new models
Lenovo plans to offer the models in this new series at very competitive prices in the European market. The starting price of the IdeaPad Slim 5x model is set at €899. The IdeaPad 5x 2-in-1 model will be available for €999. These prices indicate that Lenovo is pursuing an aggressive strategy to compete with other products in the market in a similar segment. In particular, compared to the €1,199 starting price of Microsoft’s Surface Laptop 7, Lenovo’s new models could offer consumers an attractive alternative.
Lenovo’s pricing strategy in the US market is not yet clear. However, the current Copilot Plus models, the Dell Inspiron 14 Plus’s $799.99 price and the HP OmniBook X’s $899.99 price, indicate that Lenovo will be competitive in this market. In this context, Lenovo’s new models may be offered with a similarly competitive pricing policy in the US.
Lenovo’s new Copilot Plus series will not be limited to models with Qualcomm processors. The company is also preparing to launch new models with Intel and AMD processors. These include the Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition equipped with Intel’s latest Core Ultra Series 2 processors, and the Yoga Pro 7 and IdeaPad Slim 5 models powered by AMD’s Ryzen processors. These models are also expected to be introduced at IFA 2024. Lenovo’s new Copilot Plus series seems to offer remarkable options for users looking for a price-performance balance.
