A new leak about the iPhone 18 Pro Max, which Apple is expected to introduce in the fall, has revealed new details about the physical dimensions of the device. According to the information shared by Ice Universe, known for its reliable leaks, the new model will be slightly heavier and slightly thicker compared to the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Despite this, the emerging figures point to a more limited change than the claims of larger size increases that came to the fore in previous days.
Another claim shared recently claimed that the iPhone 18 Pro model would be approximately 2 millimeters thicker than its predecessor. In the latest leak, the measurements given for the iPhone 18 Pro Max do not fully confirm this expectation. According to the shared information, the device will weigh 240 grams and have a thickness of 9 millimeters. For comparison, it is stated that the iPhone 17 Pro Max weighs 233 grams and is 8.8 millimeters thick. This means that the weight will increase by 7 grams and the thickness will increase by only 0.2 millimeters in the new model.
Increased battery capacity may affect body dimensions
The resulting measurements do not seem to make a big difference in terms of daily use. It is considered that the small increase in the new model will not be noticeable, especially if existing iPhone 17 Pro Max users are satisfied with the ergonomics of the device. However, Apple’s focus on larger batteries in recent years stands out as one of the strongest reasons explaining the limited increase in the thickness of the device.
In addition, a certification record that appeared recently provided important information about the battery capacity of the iPhone 18 Pro Max. According to the document in question, the version that offers only eSIM support will have a battery with a capacity of 5,567 mAh. The model that retains the physical SIM card slot will have a battery with a capacity of 5,391 mAh. In comparison, the eSIM version of the iPhone 17 Pro Max uses a 5,088 mAh battery, and the physical SIM card version uses a 4,823 mAh battery. These data show that a remarkable capacity increase is planned on the battery side in the new model.
On the other hand, an interesting picture emerges when compared with other flagships in the smartphone market. According to recent claims, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 will weigh approximately 201 grams. The fact that it is lighter despite having a foldable structure shows that Apple has adopted a different design balance in line with battery capacity and internal hardware preferences. In addition, material selection, camera system and changes to internal components are among the factors that may affect the total weight.
