iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e may come with an unexpected RAM capacity

New information has emerged about the iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e models, which Apple is expected to introduce in the spring of next year. According to the latest report shared by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, one of the reliable sources about Apple products, the company may include an unusual memory configuration in these two models. The report suggests that both iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e will come with 9 GB RAM. Although this capacity means a limited increase compared to the current generation, it is aimed to contribute to the smoother operation of Apple Intelligence features.

According to the information provided by Kuo, Apple plans to use a different design consisting of six 1.5 GB memory chips instead of four 2 GB memory chips in these models. This approach, which increases the total capacity to 9 GB, is not a very common configuration in the smartphone industry. Despite this, it is stated that Apple may have turned to such a choice in line with its supply chain and production planning. Since the company has not yet made an official statement on this issue, it should be reminded that the information in question is only a claim for now.

iPhone 18 Pro models feature 12 GB RAM and A20 Pro processor

The report includes not only standard models but also details about devices that will be in the upper segment. Accordingly; It is stated that the model, which is expected to be called iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and Ultra, will be offered with 12 GB RAM. While it is stated that a total of eight 1.5 GB memory chips will be used in these models, the higher amount of memory compared to the 9 GB capacity in the standard series may provide advantages, especially in artificial intelligence operations and intense multitasking scenarios. The fact that Apple has given more importance to in-device artificial intelligence processes in recent years is considered to be one of the main reasons for the increase in RAM capacity.

On the processor side, no significant surprises are expected. Allegedly, iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e models will be powered by Apple’s A20 processor. It is stated that the A20 Pro chipset will be used in the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and iPhone Ultra models, which will be positioned in the higher segment. Considering that Apple has differentiated processors between standard and Pro models in recent years, this information seems to be compatible with the company’s current product strategy.

Although Apple does not directly highlight RAM capacity as a marketing element in the latest generation iPhone models, the amount of memory has become more important, especially with the announcement of Apple Intelligence. Since a significant part of artificial intelligence-supported summarization, text generation, visual editing and personal assistant functions run on the device, higher RAM capacity can directly affect system performance. Therefore, although the transition to 9 GB of RAM may seem limited, it can contribute to switching between applications in daily use, keeping more processes open in the background and making artificial intelligence features work more stable.

On the other hand, information about the iPhone 18 series, which Apple is expected to introduce next year, is currently based on supply chain sources and analyst reports. The company traditionally does not confirm hardware features until the product launch. For this reason, it is necessary to wait for Apple’s statements for all technical specifications, including memory capacity, processor details and model names, to become official. Despite this, the fact that Ming-Chi Kuo has made accurate predictions about Apple’s hardware plans in the past causes the shared information to be followed closely in the technology world.
