Insta360 was included in the sound side with Mic Air.

Insta360, which has become more visible in the action camera market in recent years, has taken a step towards the sound needs of the video content manufacturers. Company’s new product Insta360 mic Airis the first wireless microphone attempt. The product is directly positioned to compete with the products of experienced brands in the field of sound equipment such as DJI, Rode and Shhure. With its compact structure, weight and connection options, it offers a solution to mobile shooting environments.

Mic Air’s design is small and simple. It resembles an Apple Airtag in size. Only 7.9 grams weighing shows that the microphone is light enough to make it almost forget its presence during use. This allows the minimized load to be minimized, especially when attached to thin clothes such as shirts or T -shirts.

Mic Air Connection Options Diversity According to Usage Scenarios

The mic Air can be attached to the outfit with a clip, and it can be easily fixed to different surfaces thanks to its magnetic rear surface. Alternatively, it can be used in a way that can be hung from the neck. The Insta360 has integrated some physical control buttons into the body to make it possible to use the microphone alone. With the help of these buttons, it is possible to start the video recording, stop, silence the microphone or enable the noise reduction feature.

The USB-C receiver module, which is optionally offered with the device, allows to directly adjust the sound level. This module also includes a charging transition port. Thus, while using the microphone by phone, the device is allowed to charge. The fact that the buyer has a USB-C connection targets android users. However, a separate adapter will be required for old iPhone models with Lightning connection.

Insta360 says Mic Air can provide wireless connection up to 300 meters under ideal conditions. This value applies to the open space, parasitic environment and scenarios in which noise blocking is closed. The battery life can go up to 10 hours in this connection scenario. When the direct connection is preferred with Bluetooth, the battery time decreases to 7.5 hours and the connection range decreases to 30 to 50 meters.

Mic Air can be used not only with action cameras such as Insta360 ACE Pro 2 or X5, but also with smartphones. However, the receiving module needs to be used for the phone connection. The connection made through Bluetooth is directly compatible with the company’s own cameras. Insta360 says support for other models in the future.

The microphone is able to record a resolution of 48 KHz / 24-bit. It uses the digital filtration system to reduce ambient noise. In this way, in external shooting or movement, undesirable sounds are prevented from recording to some extent. All of these features provide significant convenience for users who produce content alone.

As of now, Mic Air can be purchased through the Insta360’s own online store and global sales platforms such as Amazon. Only the price of the microphone is $ 49.99 (about 1,985 TL). The package sold with the USB-C receiver is US $ 69.99 (about 2,780 TL). There is no information about whether the product has officially entered the Turkish market.

Although Mic Air is not the product of a direct sound system manufacturer, it can be considered as an effort to protect the integrity of Insta360 in visual content production. In the world of production, where sound quality is also important with video quality, such integrated solutions have the potential to respond to different needs.
