IMEI registration fee for 2025 announced

The IMEI registration fee, which is required for mobile phones brought from abroad to be used in Turkey, has been increased by 43.93% as of 2025. According to the revaluation rate published in the Official Gazette, the fee determined for this year will be 45,614 TL. The increase in this fee, which was applied as 31,692 TL in 2024, became clear with October inflation data.

The revaluation rate is calculated based on the inflation figures announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute. This rate affects not only the IMEI registration fee, but also various fees, penalties and taxes. On the other hand, the Presidency has the authority to increase or decrease this rate up to 50%. However, it appears that no changes have been implemented for 2025.

Increase in IMEI fees compared to previous years

IMEI registration fees have been gradually increased over the years. For example, the fee, which was 131.50 TL in 2015, increased to 500 TL in November 2018 and 1,500 TL in July 2019. It was determined as 1,838.70 TL in 2020, 2,006.20 TL in 2021, and 2,732.40 TL in 2022. In 2023, the fee was increased to 20,000 TL in July and started to be applied as 31,692 TL at the beginning of 2024.

The new IMEI registration fee constitutes an important cost element, especially for users who plan to buy a phone from abroad. It is known that if IMEI registration is not made, the devices cannot be used in Turkey. So it’s clear that increased registration fees will have a big impact on the overall cost.
