Huawei is preparing to continue its innovations in the foldable smartphone market. Following the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design, which the company introduced last year and stood out as the world’s first three foldable phones, work on the second generation of this technology has accelerated. According to leaked information, the new model may meet users in 2025 and be equipped with the powerful Kirin 9020 processor.
Huawei Mate XT made a big impact in the technology world when it was released on September 10 last year. Huawei, which has achieved significant success by overcoming difficult obstacles in both engineering and production with its tri-foldable design, has proven with this device that it will not give up on innovation despite the US trade sanctions. Now, the company aims to take this success one step further with the second generation Mate XT.
According to leaked information, the new model will come with the Kirin 9020 processor. This 12-core processor promises a significant improvement in multi-core performance thanks to hyper-threading support. However, due to the lack of advanced EUV lithography equipment, Huawei can only produce the processor in the 7nm process with SMIC’s DUV technology. Despite this limitation, Huawei’s ability to deliver impressive performance even in challenging conditions stands out.
It is estimated that the new Mate XT will retain its tri-foldable design but come with some significant improvements. In the first model, the device could transform from a compact 6.4-inch phone form to a 10.2-inch tablet. It is reported that the basic principles of this design will be preserved, but improvements will be made in areas such as the hinge mechanism and screen durability.
However, it is said that the new model will have a larger battery and thus offer a longer usage time while supporting advanced hardware. Such developments can increase Huawei’s competitiveness, especially in terms of durability and energy efficiency, which foldable device users pay attention to.
Follower to Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design will be available later this year
Huawei, a pioneer in the tri-foldable smartphone category, aims to reinforce its leadership in this field with the Mate XT series. While the new model raises standards in the industry, it can also serve as a reference point for other manufacturers. However, Huawei’s biggest challenge will be production limitations due to trade restrictions.
Huawei’s three new foldable devices are expected to be introduced in 2025. The launch of this device will be an important step not only for Huawei, but also for the future of foldable technology.
