Huawei aims to offer both productivity and gaming performance with its new model added to the MateBook series, the Huawei MateBook GT 14. This model, which we have recently seen leaks of and has an Intel Core Ultra 9 185H processor, can offer thermal performance up to 115 W. It also comes with a 3: 2 OLED display with a 144 Hz refresh rate and 1,000 nits peak brightness.
In recent years, the gap between gaming and productivity laptops has been narrowing with devices like the ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14. Huawei has joined this trend and released the MateBook GT 14. Weighing 1.49 kg and measuring 15.3~18.4 mm thick, this model stands out with its distinctive design features.
Innovative design and performance in Huawei MateBook GT 14
Huawei offers the MateBook GT 14 with three Intel Meteor Lake-H processors: Core Ultra 5 125H, Core Ultra 7 155H, and Core Ultra 9 185H. These processors are supported by 1TB or 2TB of storage and 16GB or 32GB of RAM. Specifically, the Core Ultra 9 185H processor is overclocked to deliver a TDP of 75W under sustained load and 115W under short-term load.
The device has a 70 Wh battery, a 14.2-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2,880 x 1,920 pixels. This display has a 3: 2 aspect ratio, offers 1,000 nits brightness and a 144 Hz refresh rate. It also supports ten-point touch input.
Huawei has also designed a dedicated eGPU for the MateBook GT 14 that connects via Thunderbolt 4. This eGPU can boost graphics performance when needed. The device also features two USB Type-A ports, an SD card reader, and a full-size HDMI 2.1 port.
As of now, the MateBook GT 14 is only available in China. The base model with a Core Ultra 5 125H processor, 16GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD is priced at CNY7,499 (approximately $1,040). The more powerful configuration with a Core Ultra 9 185H, 32GB of RAM, and a 2TB SSD is priced at CNY10,999 (approximately $1,526).
There is no word yet on when Huawei will launch this model in international markets, but considering the brand’s previous models, it seems likely that the MateBook GT 14 will eventually make its way to the global market.
