Huawei introduced his rival Harmonyos PC to Windows and MacOS

As of 2025, Huawei took an ambitious step in desktop operating systems. Harmonyos for PC was officially announced at the Harmonyos Computer Technologies and Ecosystem Communication Conference organized by the company in China. With this new operating system, Huawei has created its own independent platform not only for mobile devices, but also for personal computers. In this way, it appears in front of sitting systems such as Windows and MacOS, with a solution based entirely on its technologies.

Harmonyos for PC is the last link of Huawei’s long -standing software independence strategy. The company, which searched for alternatives to Western systems such as Android and Windows due to the trade restrictions implemented by the US, has built Harmonyos on a core developed from scratch. This new desktop version combines components such as harmony seeds, arc motor, starshield security infrastructure and ARKU user interface. The company emphasizes that this system is completely its own and does not contain external addiction.

The system is expanded not only for consumer electronics but also to include corporate solutions. Harmonyos PC will work integrated with Huawei’s devices such as telephone, tablet, watch and television. In addition, the operating system is available with Huawei’s new office experience, Harmonyos Office. In this way, users will be able to use functions such as document sharing, screen reflection and application continuity among the devices throughout the system.

Huawei has established a system that prioritizes security and experience between devices

One of the most prominent aspects of Harmonyos PC was security architecture. The security structure, named as Starshield, provides protection at the system level, while real identification is required for developers. In addition, processes such as screenshot, screen recording and camera access are subject to strict permission controls. However, the “super privacy mode” in the system can completely disable the camera, microphone and location services. This feature aims to increase information security, especially in corporate uses.

Huawei also attaches importance to physical security. The Harmonyos PC works with a full disk encryption at the chip level. Thanks to this technology, even if the hard disk of a computer is physically removed, the data cannot be accessed without opening the screen lock. This feature provides a serious safety advantage for professional users working with precision data. In addition, Huawei aims to increase the security of the system against data -centered attacks.

In the new system, the experience of productivity is extended not only to software but also at the hardware level. Harmonyos contains functions such as productivity tools, documents editing, meeting meeting grades and synchronization between devices. Artificial intelligence -supported virtual assistant Xiaoyi also helps the user in various tasks at this point. Huawei claims that this artificial intelligence will increase productivity especially in the fields of document management and duty automation, especially in corporate environment.

Another remarkable aspect of Harmonyos for PC is integration between devices. With its own ARKTS Programming Language and Deveco development environment, Huawei offers developers with tools that will provide trouble -free application between different devices. Accordingly, users, for example, will be able to maintain a project they have started on a laptop on a tablet or smartphone. This ability means a holistic experience, especially for users who use multiple devices.

According to the company, Harmonyos PC is currently supporting more than 150 special PC applications. In addition, more than 2,000 universal applications have been reported to be compatible with the platform. These applications include solutions in many categories such as office, graphic design, finance and education. Huawei’s incentive and resource support for developers continues for the development of the application ecosystem.

On the corporate usage side, two separate cloud platforms come into play: Enterprise Application Center and Enterprise Business Deployment Cloud. Via distribution, security, management and analysis tools will be provided through these platforms. Huawei says Harmonyos PC can also be integrated into large -scale institutional infrastructures. But to what extent the system will be accepted in the real world needs time, especially in terms of software compatibility.

Harmonyos PC will be officially available in China on 19 May 2025. The first equipment to be supported by the system will be announced at this event. For the time being, it is not certain which Huawei laptop models will first run this system. Likewise, to what extent third -party developers will support this new platform will become clear in the coming period.

Huawei makes a strong entry into the desktop software market with Harmonyos PC, while aiming to break users’ commitment to Windows or MacOS. However, the success of the system will be directly associated not only with technical competence, but also with ecosystem strength, application support and user habits. Considering all these factors, this new stage of Harmonyos means an important but challenging turning point in Huawei’s vision of software independence.
