Honor officially revealed the Android 15-based MagicOS 9.0 interface

Honor introduced the new MagicOS 9.0 operating system in China. This announcement comes a week before the launch of the brand’s new flagship series, Magic 7. While the company described MagicOS 9.0 as “the world’s first personalized artificial intelligence operating system for all scenarios,” it pointed out the deep integration of the Yoyo voice assistant, or AI Agent, as the company calls it.

In this new system based on Android 15, Yoyo assistant can be used in many applications in MagicOS 9.0. Thanks to MagicLM, Honor’s own language model, the system is designed to understand natural language, benefit from computer vision technology, learn user habits and be context-sensitive.

The system will be able to perform operations such as ordering a coffee through in-app functions, almost like a human assistant. The user can confirm the payment with just one command and the order will be completed.

Although the new MagicLM model has lower 3D parameters than the previous 7B model, it offers 80 percent less energy consumption, 77 percent faster loading time and 500 percent faster word production speed. These optimizations save 1.8 GB of storage space and 1.6 GB of RAM on the device.

In addition, MagicOS 9.0 also introduces the industry’s first AI Deepfake Detection feature. This technology was developed to protect users against fraud and increase security.

There are also important innovations in the design of MagicOS 9.0. Tools like Versatile Desktop, Magic Lock Screen, and Magic Style allow users to completely personalize their experience. Additionally, features such as artificial intelligence-supported AI Gallery, AI Eraser, Facial Restoration and AI Image Expansion are also included in this version.

Honor will release MagicOS 9.0 update to the world in early 2025

Honor has confirmed that MagicOS 9.0 will be available for around 36 devices and has set an update schedule for the Chinese market. However, it may take a little longer for this update to be available for international devices. MagicOS 9.0 is expected to arrive in international markets along with the global launch of Magic 7 phones in the first months of 2025. At that time, more information will be available regarding the global distribution of the system and it will become clear when international devices will receive this update.
