Honor develops its own 1 -inch camera sensor for Magic 8 RSR Porsche Design

New leaks on Honor’s upcoming Magic 8 series show that the company is preparing to make an ambitious move in mobile camera technology. Chinese leak source Smart Pikachu said that the Magic 8 series will contain models with screen sizes ranging from 6.3 to 6.8 inches. However, the mainly attracted detail was the claim that the Honor Magic 8 RSR Porsche Design, which will be the top model of the series, will be equipped with a special 1 -inch camera sensor developed by the company.

Nowadays, many smartphone manufacturers supply from giant companies such as Sony, Samsung and Omnivision for camera sensors. However, it is not clear what technical or strategic reasons are behind Honor’s decision to improve his own sensor. The company’s tending to produce its own solution in this field may be related to the need for a special technology that existing suppliers do not offer.

According to leaks, Honor’s 1 -inch sensor will be supported by a lens with a variable aperture opening. This lens will collect more light in low light conditions and offer better results in night shots, while narrowing the diaphragm in daytime shooting, sharper and more detailed photos. Huawei previously used such a technology in the P60 Pro model and achieved quite successful results. Honor seems to be able to strengthen his camera skills by following a similar approach.

Honor’s move brings to mind the allegations put forward for Huawei for a period. Previously, there were rumors that Huawei had developed his own camera sensor for the Pura 70 series. However, the company prefers the Sony IMX989 (1 inch, 50 MP) sensor in the Pura 70 Ultra model, while the Omnivision OV50H (1/1.3 inch, 50 MP) sensor in Pura 70 Pro and Pro+ models.

Although it is not known how Huawei’s own sensor develops its own sensor, it is wondered if Honor will be more successful in this regard. Unlike Huawei, Honor’s former parent company, it is uncertain for the time being. However, if the company has really developed its own sensor, this move can increase Honor’s independence on hardware and provide a competitive advantage in the long run.

Honor Magic 8 RSR can take a new journey with Porsche Design

Honor’s 1 -inch special sensor will be released with Magic 8 RSR Porsche Design, which is only a top segment model in the first place. However, considering the long -term plans of the company, if the sensor shows the expected performance and the production costs can be reduced, it may be possible to use this sensor in other future Honor flagship models.

Mobile Photography continues to be one of the biggest competition areas among smartphone manufacturers. Especially the investments made by brands such as Xiaomi, Vivo, Apple and Samsung in high -level camera systems show that the sector is progressing rapidly in this field. Honor seems to want to have a solid place in this competition.
