GoPro Hero 13 Black leak reveals both design and accessories

GoPro is preparing to introduce its new action camera called Hero 13 Black to users this year. The company’s latest product, which remains loyal to its annual renewal schedule for its flagship action camera, was seen thanks to a page shared on Amazon and later removed.

According to the product page, GoPro’s new action camera will be available on September 16. DJI is also expected to introduce its rival product, the Osmo Action 5 Pro, to users before that date.

Promotional images on the Amazon page show the Hero 13 Black to look very similar to its predecessor, the Hero 12 Black. GoPro’s focus this time around seems to be on expanding accessory options rather than making significant hardware upgrades.

It looks like the new Macro Lens Mode will allow for 3x zoom, while the Ultra Wide-Angle Lens Mode will provide users with a very wide viewing angle of 177 degrees.

While these lens add-ons are aimed at specific shooting scenarios, details about the Hero 13 Black’s core camera remain vague. There’s no word yet on possible sensor improvements, frame rate capabilities, or other internal upgrades.

GoPro to offer more accessories for Hero 13 Black

In addition to lens mods, GoPro is said to be introducing new mounting solutions like the Magnetic Latch and Magnetic Latch Ball Joint. These will join existing accessories like the Floaty handgrip and Protective Sleeve.

The leak also suggests that a successor to the Hero 11 Black Mini could be on the way, but details about that camera remain vague. GoPro’s iterative approach may disappoint some action camera enthusiasts. While new lens mods add extra functionality, the lack of core hardware improvements could make the Hero 13 Black a less appealing upgrade for those already using a Hero 12 Black.
