Google is adding a new one to the design changes it has recently made in its artificial intelligence-supported search experience. After renewing the AI Mode interface, the company has now started to offer Android users a new design with more vibrant visuals for Search Live. The Google Search Live update, which has not yet been widely distributed, differs from the previous version especially with its full-screen usage approach and remarkable transition effects.
When Search Live first launched, an arc-shaped wave animation was displayed at the bottom of the screen during voice input. This animation, which moved while the user was speaking, would switch to a different view that curved downwards when Google started generating a response. In the new design, this approach is replaced by a blue light effect surrounding the screen. This bright frame that appears when the user asks a question turns into a wave animation with color transitions located at the bottom of the screen when the system starts to respond.
With the new interface, the way video streaming is used also changes. The video image, which was shown only in the upper half of the screen in the previous version, can now cover the entire screen. Thus, while the Search Live experience becomes more immersive, a wider viewing area is provided, especially in visual search and camera-supported usage scenarios. The color transitions and animation language used offer a look reminiscent of the Circle to Search feature that Google has recently highlighted.
Google Search Live design gets a more modern look
The basic control structure in the interface is largely preserved. Buttons for turning off silent mode, turning on video, and viewing text transcripts continue to be located at the bottom of the screen. While other control options in the upper right section are preserved, the “CC” icon used for the recently added live subtitle feature also takes its place in the new design. In addition, minor spacing adjustments appear to have been made in the web results carousel and various recommendation cards.
It is stated that Google started testing this new Search Live design on the Android side with version 17.20 of the Google application. However, the update is not currently available to all users. Due to the gradual rollout process, the new interface is expected to start appearing on different regions and devices at different times.
In recent months, Google continues to renew its artificial intelligence-supported search tools in terms of both functionality and visual experience. Especially after the Gemini integration, it seems that the company has made audio and visual interactions more centralized. This new design for Search Live is among the updates that aim to enable users to have a more natural and continuous interaction with artificial intelligence. However, the impact of intense use of colors and animations in the interface on battery consumption and usage habits seems to be more clearly understood after wide-scale distribution.
