Google Pixel 12 series may surprise on the screen side

Although Google introduced the Pixel 11 family in August, the first information about the next generation Pixel phones has begun to emerge. While it was claimed that the Pixel 12, Pixel 12 Pro, Pixel 12 Pro According to the leak, Google plans to slightly reduce the vertical resolution while maintaining the number of horizontal pixels in the three classic Pixel 12 models. This change indicates that the phones may have slightly shorter screen ratios than the current Pixel 11 family. On the foldable Pixel 12 Pro Fold side, a reverse change is on the agenda and it is stated that the inner screen will be approximately 10 percent wider.

According to the shared information, the standard Pixel 12 is listed with the model number GC0QU and has a screen with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. While the model number GWU59 and a resolution of 1280 x 2824 pixels are given for the Pixel 12 Pro, it is stated that the larger Pixel 12 Pro XL carries the code G7U1Y and has a resolution of 1344 x 2952 pixels. Pixel 12 Pro Fold, the foldable member of the series, is called G4D5D model number. It is stated that the internal screen of this model will offer a resolution of 2296 x 2404 pixels. Since GSMA records normally contain basic identification information such as model numbers of devices, there is currently no clear explanation on how screen resolution details are obtained.

More significant changes in screen ratios may be seen in the Google Pixel 12 series

Leaked resolution values show that the Pixel 12, Pixel 12 Pro and Pixel 12 Pro XL models may have less tall screens than the previous generation. It is stated that while the number of horizontal pixels on all three phones remains the same as their existing Pixel 11 counterparts, the number of vertical pixels has been reduced. Such a change may affect not only the resolution values, but also the physical screen ratios of the devices and therefore the body design. A shorter screen may make phones a little easier to use in the hand, and it may also slightly change the amount of vertical content displayed in applications. However, other technical details such as screen sizes, frame thicknesses and panel proportions need to be revealed in order to evaluate the impact on real use.

On the Pixel 12 Pro Fold side, a different approach stands out. According to the leak, the inner screen of the foldable model will be approximately 10 percent wider compared to the Pixel 11 Pro Fold. This change can provide a more convenient workspace when opening two applications side by side for multitasking. In addition, moving the screen closer to a more horizontal structure can offer a different experience in usage scenarios such as watching videos, viewing documents and navigating web pages. However, since the expansion of the screen may also affect the physical dimensions of the device when closed and open, it is not yet known what choice Google will make in the hinge and body design.

It is estimated that there are approximately 10 months until Google officially introduces the Pixel 12 family. Therefore, the available information may be from a relatively early stage of the development process, and it seems possible that some technical specifications may change in the final devices. Although the emergence of model numbers suggests that the development and certification processes of the phones within the company have reached a certain stage, it is too early to say that the resolution values are finalized. More details such as screen dimensions, processor to be used, camera hardware and battery capacity can be expected to emerge in the coming months. The most striking picture for now is that the classic models in the Pixel 12 family are turning to shorter screens and the foldable Pixel 12 Pro Fold may be preparing with a larger internal panel.
