Google has started rolling out an update powered by Gemini artificial intelligence technology for Gmail’s Android and iOS applications. This new feature, first announced in May, makes Gmail’s smart replies more specific and user-specific. According to Google, these new contextual Gmail Smart Replies will consider the entire email thread and deliver more detailed responses that fully reflect the intent of your message.
When users scroll through suggested contextual smart replies, they will be able to preview the reply and choose the one that best suits their needs or writing style. Suggested replies can be edited or posted directly. This feature is aimed at saving time, especially for those who are often drowning in their email inbox, and can say “Yes, I’m working on it” or “No problem, thanks for letting me know!” It goes beyond simple answers such as and offers more diverse and comprehensive automatic response options. Additionally, these smart replies provide a more professional structure by adding an introductory greeting and closing message.
New contextual Smart Replies powered by Gemini are now available for Gemini Business, Enterprise, Education, Education Premium and Google One AI Premium subscribers. The feature is only available in English and is built on the original Smart Replies that were added to Gmail in 2017. This development aims to offer Gmail users a more effective and faster email experience.
Gmail Smart Replies will be more efficient with artificial intelligence
Google aims to alleviate users’ daily workloads with the artificial intelligence projects it has been developing for a long time. This new update is one of the important steps taken towards this goal. Gmail, which is used extensively especially in the business world and education sector, will help professionals and students be more efficient in time management thanks to this new feature. While artificial intelligence-supported responses will speed up routine business processes, they will also allow users to reflect their personal touches in their messages.
