Google announced a remarkable update for its artificial intelligence-supported assistant Gemini. This innovation enables Gemini to perform operations on multiple applications with a single command. The update was announced alongside the launch of Samsung’s new Galaxy S25 series. Additionally, Galaxy S25 devices are the first Samsung phones to offer Gemini as the default assistant. With this change, while Samsung’s Bixby assistant remained in the background, Gemini’s capabilities were expanded with more application integration.
With the new update, Gemini users have the opportunity to perform transactions in multiple applications simultaneously. For example, finding a dog-friendly Italian restaurant, sending this information to your friend, or viewing the upcoming matches of your favorite team and adding them to your calendar is now possible with a single command.
This new feature is built on Gemini’s existing app extensions infrastructure. The system, which currently supports Google applications as well as limited third-party applications such as WhatsApp and Spotify, now includes Samsung’s own applications for Galaxy S25 users. This includes Samsung Calendar, Notes, Reminder and Clock apps. However, multi-app extensions are also available to all Gemini users on web, Android and iOS.
Google announced that it has also made improvements to Gemini Live, Gemini’s voice interaction mode. However, these features are limited to Galaxy S25, S24 and Google Pixel 9 series phones for now. Users of these devices will be able to receive feedback and information from Gemini by sharing images, files and YouTube videos to the chat interface. In addition, the screen sharing and live video streaming features introduced by Google under the name Project Astra are expected to come to Android devices in the coming months.
Google Gemini will be the default virtual assistant of the S25 series
With these developments, Samsung appointed Gemini as the default virtual assistant on its new S25 series phones. Bixby is still pre-installed on devices, but a long press on the power button now launches Gemini by default.

Circle to Search, Google’s artificial intelligence-supported search feature, also received its share of updates. Phone numbers, e-mail addresses and URLs are now automatically recognized, providing easier interaction. The scope of artificial intelligence-generated summaries for visual search results has also been expanded. Thus, when you scan a photo of a place, work of art or object, you will be able to achieve higher accuracy results with relevant AI summaries.
Finally, Google also announced changes that make it easier to pair Android devices with screen readers and hearing aids.
