Google announced the artificial intelligence tool that simplifies texts for iOS Simplify

Google has introduced a new feature to iOS users aiming to make online content more understandable. The company’s “Simplify”, which is supported by the Gemini artificial intelligence model, presents the texts of iPhone users on their web pages more simple and readable. This tool, which enables users to reach directly simplified content without copying from any web page, provides significant convenience, especially in technical or academic texts.

Simplify was developed by Google’s research unit, Google Research, and integrates the company’s abilities of artificial intelligence directly into the user experience. The basis of the feature is natural language processing capabilities developed with Gemini 1.5 Pro model. This system aims to present the complex terms or expressions faced by users by simplifying them without removing them. In this way, it is possible to translate the technical expressions encountered in the fields such as medicine, law and scientific researches on a daily language.

In the comprehensive assessments made by Google, Simplify has a positive effect on the ability to understand and recall the texts of users. In the experiment carried out by the company with a group of 4,563 people, 31 different texts from various fields were simplified. Users were subjected to meaning test and information remembering tests by reading both original and simplified versions. The results showed that simplified texts increase access to information, especially in technical fields.

Users can easily access simplified versions by selecting text

The Simplify feature can be accessed through the Google application in iOS. Users can display the simplified version by touching the “Simplify” icon from the menu that appears when they select the text on any web page. This content is displayed in a window on the bottom of the page, and the user can turn off the window at any time. This method eliminates the need for application or page replacement.

Google, while developing the Simplify tool, did not leave the simplification process only at the word level, but also considering the integrity of the narrative. Accordingly, simplified content are not only short and simple sentences; At the same time, it turns into balanced and understandable texts that maintain the context and importance of the subject. This approach makes it easier for users not to read not only to read the text.

However, Google underlines that this feature is still in development. The company states that simplification systems are still carrying certain limitations and in some cases they may have shifts. Therefore, although the feature is active, the system is planned to be continuously evaluated and developed with feedback.

In addition to all these, it is noteworthy that the feature is currently presented only to the iOS platform. No release date was given for Android and desktop users. Google says that it aims to gain similar capabilities to other platforms, but is not yet a concrete plan to be announced.

This new feature of Google is an important example in terms of showing how artificial intelligence -supported systems can be directly integrated into the benefit of the user. Supported by the Gemini model, this tool has the potential to redefine both user experience and access to information.

It is clear that functions such as simplification in the texts where technical information is intense offers significant convenience for users. Such innovations can also make valuable contributions in terms of increasing the level of digital literacy. Google’s step points to a new phase in the user -oriented development of text processing technologies in the coming period.
