Good news for Claude users: Anthropic temporarily increased the limits

Anthropic has announced a new campaign aimed at a wide range of users using its AI chatbot Claude. According to the statement made by the company, Claude usage limits have been doubled for a certain period (two weeks). This app covers both individual users and people who access Claude through various productivity tools. While all web, desktop and mobile versions are included in this campaign, users working through Claude’s different integrations can also benefit from this increase.

According to the information shared by Anthropic, the advantage in question is not limited to the basic Claude interface. Those who use Claude on the Cowork platform, developers who use artificial intelligence in software development processes with the Claude Code tool, and people who use Claude integrations prepared for Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint can also benefit from increased usage limits. In addition, the Enterprise plan offered at the corporate level was excluded from this campaign.

This campaign reminds us of a similar campaign the company previously organized at the end of the year. At the event held between December 25 and December 31, Anthropic doubled the usage limits for users with Pro, Max 5x and Max 20x subscription plans. But the new campaign appeals to a wider user group. Because in the previous implementation, only certain subscription levels could benefit from the benefit, this time most users other than the Enterprise plan were covered.

Tension between Anthropic and the US Department of Defense is on the agenda

The company describes the campaign as “a little thank you to everyone who uses Claude.” Despite this, there are evaluations in technology circles that this decision may be linked to different developments. Especially the disagreements between Anthropic and the US Department of Defense attract attention. The company was classified as a supply chain risk by the federal agency after it refused to accept requests to remove some security measures. As a result of this development, it was reported that Anthropic’s contract with the Ministry of Defense ended.

On the other hand, during the same period, it was revealed that OpenAI signed a new agreement with the US Department of Defense. This indicates that competition in the artificial intelligence ecosystem has moved to a different dimension. In addition, it is observed that some users reacted to these developments and turned to alternative chat bots instead of ChatGPT. Claude stands out as one of the most frequently mentioned options among these alternatives.

The Claude model developed by Anthropic is known especially for its approach to security and ethical rules. The company tries to limit model behavior within certain principles with a method called “constitutional AI”. However, Claude 3 and later versions have become widely used in areas such as software development, data analysis and content production due to their long context capacity and advanced reasoning capabilities.

Temporarily increasing usage limits may allow for more intensive testing of Claude and trying out different usage scenarios. However, the exclusion of the Enterprise plan from the campaign shows that Anthropic is trying to preserve resource management on the enterprise use side.
