First information about Dimensity 9400 came from MediaTek CEO

There is still a long time until the official announcement of the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 processor. However, the first clues about the features of this processor have started to come. The fact that these clues are given by MediaTek CEO makes the shared information more remarkable.

Dimensity 9300 was introduced in November last year. The fact that this processor had four Cortex-X4 cores instead of one made the design even more strange. The presence of four Cortex-A720s instead of small cores increased the dose of this interestingness even more.

CEO Cai Lixing, who attended the opening of one of the company’s new offices, praised the success of Dimensity 9300. MediaTek CEO also underlined that artificial intelligence will become increasingly important for smartphones.

Cai also gave some clues about Dimensity 9400, which is expected to become official in the fourth quarter of this year. Dimensity 9400 will be the company’s first processor produced with TSMC’s 3 nm process. The current Dimensity 9300 is a processor produced with a 4 nm process.

Which cores will MediaTek Dimensity 9400 carry?

There is no confirmation yet for the core configuration of Dimensity 9400. However, according to rumors, the fastest core will be Cortex-X5, which has not been officially announced yet. Three Cortex-X4 and four Cortex-A720 will complete the system. It is worth noting that there is no clear information about the clock speeds and performance of TSMC’s 3 nm chips. It is also expected that the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 will have a faster neural processor unit.
