DJI has developed a new vehicle charger to support its series of portable power stations. Power 1kW Super Fast Car Charger offers a charging capacity of up to 1000W with the energy it receives from the vehicles’ alternator. This device is designed specifically for users looking for mobile energy solutions.
Power 1kW works by connecting to the vehicle’s electrical system with a 5-meter fused cable. It then connects via the DJI Power 1000 power station’s dedicated SDC port. It is also compatible with DJI’s Power 2000 Expansion Batteries with a capacity of 2048Wh, and up to 11kWh of storage capacity can be achieved by daisy chaining. Thanks to the reverse charging feature of the device, discharging the vehicle’s battery can also be prevented.
When operating at full capacity, the Power 1kW can fully charge the Power 1000’s 1024Wh battery in about an hour of driving. However, the device comes with 500W charging power by default. To reach 1000W power, an additional adapter and adjustments via the application are required. DJI offers this adapter for free with new purchases in the US.
This move by DJI is considered a reflection of the increasing demand for mobile energy solutions. In particular, the launch of similar products by brands such as EcoFlow and Bluetti increases the competition in this field. EcoFlow’s 800W Alternator Charger and Bluetti’s 560W AC500 model attract the attention of users with their different features. However, DJI’s 1000W capacity stands out as a feature that distinguishes it from its competitors.
For the effective use of such high-capacity chargers, vehicles must have an alternator of sufficient capacity. Otherwise, it may not be possible for the devices to perform fully. It is important for users to check whether their vehicles’ electrical systems are compatible with such devices.
DJI’s Power 1kW Super Fast Car Charger offers a powerful solution for mobile energy needs. However, it should be said that it would be beneficial for users to make an evaluation by taking into account the features of the device and the capacity of their own vehicle.
