Delay claim for Huawei Mate 70 series launch

Huawei had announced at the HDC 2024 event that the Mate 70 series smartphones would be introduced in the fourth quarter of the year. However, famous tipster Digital Chat Station claimed that the company has pushed the release schedule forward and postponed it to the second half of the quarter. This means that the Mate 70 series could be introduced in December.

The delay in question is said to be due to the slow adoption of the new HarmonyOS NEXT operating system and the slow integration of the latest Kirin 5G processor.

The successor to HarmonyOS, HarmonyOS NEXT, was announced at HDC 2024. The Mate 70 series will mark the start of HarmonyOS NEXT’s widespread availability to users. However, it appears that a smooth transition from the current version of HarmonyOS to NEXT is taking longer than expected.

On the other hand, the new Kirin chip reportedly uses a new platform and features advanced technology that may require additional development time for seamless integration with the phone’s hardware.

The phones will feature a 1.5K LTPO display, an Omnivision OV50K main camera with ultra-wide variable aperture, and an ultra-large silicon battery that likely uses silicon negative electrode technology for better efficiency. For security reasons, Huawei is also likely to emphasize 3D facial scanning.

3D spatial zoom on cameras and satellite communication support for emergencies are also among the features expected to be found on the phones.

Huawei Mate 70 series delay may bring a brighter user experience

While an official launch date has yet to be confirmed, this delay could buy Huawei valuable time to refine the integration of both the new Kirin chipset and HarmonyOS NEXT, which could ultimately result in a more polished user experience when the smartphones launch. Still, this means we’ll have to wait a bit longer for the Mate 70 series.
