ColorOS 17 open beta applications have started, deadline is October 12

OPPO opened applications for the ColorOS 17 open beta program and gave those who wanted to participate until October 12. The official announcement released for Find X9 Pro aims to test the Android 17-based version with users in India, Indonesia and Malaysia. The program does not represent a general update distribution for phones in all countries. Users need to check both the device model, country and current software version.

The OPPO list within the open beta includes Find X9 Ultra, Find X9 Pro, Find X9 and Find X9s models. In addition, Find X8 Pro and Find X8 are also included in the program. For Reno15 Pro and Reno15 Pro Mini, country coverage is limited to India and Malaysia. Thus, even phones within the same brand do not share the same regional conditions.

Reference information for other devices lists the 15, 15R, 13, 13R and 13s models on the OnePlus side. Open beta applications in this group include users in India. Realme GT 8 Pro, GT 7 Pro, GT 7T and GT 7 family are also in the news. On the other hand, each user must separately verify the current application announcement of his/her device.

The Find X9 Pro announcement asks to use one of two specific software builds before applying. These are specified as CPH2791_16.0.10.500(EX01) and CPH2791_16.0.10.600(EX01). Therefore, just having the phone’s name in the list is not enough. These conditions cannot be directly applied to another OPPO or OnePlus model, each device follows the version requirement in its own announcement.

ColorOS 17 open beta does not replace the stable version yet

OPPO clearly states in the official announcement that the open beta version is not stable. The company expects users to participate in the test by accepting possible instabilities and incompatibilities. However, it asks you to back up important personal data before updating. Since some third-party applications may not be compatible with Android 17, there is a possibility of disruption in daily use.

The company also explains that after the initial installation, the operating system performs various processes in the background to improve the device. This process may cause temporary heating, slowing down and faster battery drain. OPPO recommends turning off the screen and charging the phone overnight after the successful update. Alternatively, he notes that normal use may cause recovery within a few days.

Eligible users can proceed to the software screen from the About device section in Settings, then to the Beta program menu. After submitting the application information, it is necessary to wait for the acceptance process. When the application is successful, the download option opens in the update section of the device. On the other hand, the global launch expected on October 13 does not indicate that all models will be released to the stable version on the same day. Official regional statements will also determine the distribution schedule for Türkiye.
