Claude, which is specially developed for universities, brings artificial intelligence to the center of education processes

According to a global study by the Digital Education Council, 86 percent of university students receive support from artificial intelligence in the course studies. This ratio clearly reveals that the impact of artificial intelligence in higher education increases rapidly. In this respect, the artificial intelligence company Anthropic announced a new initiative for universities. This initiative, Claude for Education, was designed for students not only to produce content with artificial intelligence, but also to learn to think.

Claude for Education is mainly aiming at students to discover the solutions instead of directly responding. This new feature, called “Learning Mode ,, offers an approach that directs the student but does not give the answer directly. Thanks to this mode, Claude encourages the student to develop the thesis in the face of a literary question. Likewise, he tries to solve a mathematical problem step by step together.

Claude’s educational features transform students’ thinking habits

This form of interaction at the center of the new system is supported by the Socratic method. So Claude said, “Which evidence supports your result?” with questions such as forcing the student to think. This approach makes the student focus not only on the result, but also the process. Thus, it is aimed to turn artificial intelligence into a instructive vehicle.

One of the most striking aspects of the initiative is the cooperation with some universities. Anthropic made agreements with Northeastern University, London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and Champlain College. The students of these institutions will have the right to complete access to Claude for Education. The system users with only a .edu extension e-mail address can access the system.

In addition, Anthropic launched two new student programs. The first Claude Campus Ambassadors allows students to organize Claude -based educational activities at their universities. The second program gives API loans to students using Claude for their projects. In this way, students who perform experiments with artificial intelligence are financially supported.

Claude for Education is targeting not only students but also faculty members. For example, Claude can be used to create evaluation criteria in accordance with the course content. It also provides support for student assignments in tasks such as providing individual feedback. In addition, it has the capacity to produce questions according to different levels of difficulty.

Claude’s functions for administrative staff draw attention. The simplification of corporate documents or the creation of content in the FNS format related to student affairs stands out in this context. However, in order to effectively be effective, universities need to plan the integration process seriously. Claude’s cooperation with Instructure is also gaining importance at this point.

Anthropic’s initiative aims to make the role of artificial intelligence in education, not only supportive, but also guiding. In particular, his focus on questioning -based learning separates Claude from other chat boots. However, it seems critical for users to get used to this system and direct them correctly for long term success. How educational institutions adapt to this artificial intelligence will be one of the most important determinants of the process.

In any case, Claude for Education is a candidate to be a part of the digital transformation in universities. The integration of artificial intelligence into the education system in such a comprehensive manner is considered one of the first examples. As a result, this development points to the beginning of a period in which higher education institutions meet artificial intelligence systems that teach not only information but teach thinking. How universities will respond to this period will be the main question of the coming years.
