Vivo continues to share new details about the X Fold 6, which it has been promoting in China since last week. The company had previously confirmed that the device would abandon the Snapdragon platform, which it has preferred in its foldable models for many years, and switch to MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 processor. Now, the posts made by Vivo Vice President of Products Huang Tao and Vivo Communication Technology Product Manager Han Boxia on Weibo provide a closer look at the camera, design and screen features of the upcoming foldable phone.
According to Vivo’s statements, when developing the X Fold 6, it was aimed to combine the big screen experience with artificial intelligence-supported productivity features. The updated Atomic Workbench feature on the device will allow multiple applications to be run simultaneously on the large internal screen. This system, supported by the OriginOS 6 Fold interface and Dimensity 9500 platform, is aimed to provide a more fluid experience in multitasking. It is stated that remarkable innovations will be offered on the software side, especially for users who use their mobile devices for work and daily productivity.
It seems that Vivo has made significant changes on the design side. The company is highlighting the new Blue Hole color option, inspired by the blue sinkholes in the deep sea. In addition, it is stated that hand-holding comfort has been increased thanks to more rounded corners and the renewed metal frame design. Despite this, it is stated that the device maintains its thin and light structure. Vivo positions the X Fold 6 as a flagship foldable phone that combines aesthetic appearance, portability and daily use comfort.
Vivo X Fold 6 camera system draws attention on the telephoto side
The information shared by the company shows that one of the strongest aspects of the X Fold 6 will be the camera system. On the main camera side, there is a 200 megapixel camera using Samsung’s HPB sensor. This camera, with a 1/1.4 inch sensor size, comes with f/1.68 aperture and CIPA 4.5 level image stabilization support. The sample photos published by Vivo also point to ambitious results, especially in terms of detail level and performance at long distances.
On the other hand, the company also confirmed the ZEISS APO certified periscope telephoto camera, which it said was a first in the foldable phone segment. This system, which uses the Sony LYT-602 sensor, can work with the Vivo ZEISS Teleconverter G2 accessory. Thus, the equivalent focal length of the device can be up to 200 mm. This feature can provide greater flexibility, especially when shooting concerts, sports events and distant objects.
The camera system is also accompanied by Vivo’s V3+ imaging chip. In addition, multiple portrait focal lengths ranging from 23 mm to 100 mm, full-focus flash support and artificial intelligence-supported photography tools are among the features offered by the device. Considering the investments Vivo has made in the field of imaging in recent years, it seems that the X Fold 6 is specifically aimed at photo-oriented users.
On the screen side, it has been confirmed that the device will come with an 8.02-inch foldable internal screen. Using Samsung’s latest M14 light-emitting material, the panel can reach a peak brightness level of 5,000 nits on both the internal and external screen. In addition, a low brightness mode that can go down to 1 nits is offered to increase eye comfort during night use. It was announced that the TÜV Rheinland Global Eye Protection 3.0 certificate was also included in the device.
Not all technical specifications are official yet. Despite this, sources in the industry suggest that Vivo X Fold 6 may come with a very large battery with a capacity of 6,900 mAh. If this capacity is confirmed, the device may be one of the models with the highest battery capacity in the foldable phone category. The latest information shared by Vivo shows that the company is trying to balance performance, camera and battery life in the same device. Although no official statement has been made regarding the launch date, the X Fold 6 is expected to be announced in China before the end of June.
