Circle to Search added to Nothing Phone (2) and Phone (2a) models with Android 15

The Circle to Search feature, which Google first introduced on Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel devices in early 2024, is added to the Nothing Phone series with the Android 15 update. This new feature became available on Nothing Phone (2), Phone (2a) and Phone (2a) Plus models with Nothing OS 3.0.

In the statement made by Nothing, it was stated that the feature was made available after additional tests were completed on these devices. “On the Phone (2), Phone (2a) and Phone (2a) Plus models, users who switch to Android 15-based Nothing OS 3.0 can now use the Circle to Search feature,” the company said.

Android 15 update is currently available as a stable version for Phone (2) and Phone (2a) models. However, there is only a beta version for the Phone (2a) Plus model. Users can verify whether this feature is enabled on their device by checking the build number:

  • Phone (2): “Pong-V3.0-241207-0124”
  • Phone (2a): “Pacman-V3.0-241210-2057”
  • Phone (2a) Plus: “PacmanPro-V3.0-241126-1448”

To check the version number, the relevant section can be accessed from the Settings menu.

The Circle to Search feature allows users to search for content on their screens. Users can quickly search by highlighting and circling or tapping text on the screen. This feature can be activated by long-pressing the home button or the navigation bar, depending on whether you’re using three-button or gesture-based navigation.

Circle to Search will also be added to other Nothing models

Nothing stated that the Circle to Search feature will be supported on other models with future Nothing OS 3.0 updates. Especially the mention of the Japan-specific Phone (2a) model indicates that the Nothing Phone (1) model may also receive this feature.

This new feature, which comes with Android 15, aims to enable Nothing users to access the content on their screens faster. Thanks to the new software developed, the user experience on Nothing devices is expected to increase further.
