ChatGPT will be able to remember paying users' preferences

In February, OpenAI introduced ChatGPT's Memory feature, which can store queries, commands, and other customizations more permanently. Originally only accessible to limited users, this feature is now available for ChatGPT Plus subscribers outside Europe and South Korea.

ChatGPT's Memory feature works in two ways to make the chatbot's responses more personalized. The first is to let you remind ChatGPT of certain details, and the second is to learn from conversations like the algorithms in our other applications. Memory puts ChatGPT on the path to making it a better AI assistant. Once it remembers your preferences, it can take them into account without the need for reminders.

More personal communication with ChatGPT

Unlike the previous test, ChatGPT will now notify users when its memory has been updated, OpenAI noted in a blog post on the subject. Users can manage what the chatbot remembers by reviewing what it retrieves from conversations and having ChatGPT “forget” unwanted details.

For example, you explained that you prefer your meeting minutes to have headings, bullet points, and action items outlined at the bottom. ChatGPT remembers this and summarizes meetings this way. You told ChatGPT that you own a neighborhood coffee shop. When brainstorming a social media message for a new location celebration, ChatGPT knows where to start.

You stated that you have a child and that child loves jellyfish. When you ask ChatGPT for help creating a birthday card, it suggests a jellyfish wearing a party hat.

ChatGPT can always remember details during active chats; For example, if you ask him to draft an email and then immediately say “make it more professional,” he will remember that you mentioned the email. But if you wait long enough or start a new conversation, these details will be forgotten.

OpenAI did not explain why the Memory feature would not be available in Europe or South Korea. The company did not specify when the Memory feature will be available to ChatGPT Enterprise and Teams subscribers, as well as private GPTs in the GPT Store.
