Following Microsoft's Windows event, Asus introduced the Vivobook S 15 (S5507), its first Copilot Plus PC laptop. Equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon X series processors, this model will accelerate new AI-supported programs and workloads while improving existing Vivobook features. Asus states that the Arm-based chip attracts attention with its 45 TOPS neural processing power.
The new Vivobook S 15 will have the same OLED screen as the previous Intel generation. This screen is 15.6 inches in size, 16:9 ratio, 2880 x 1620 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate and 600 nits peak HDR brightness. However, this special version will have a thinner case and screen frames.
Vivobook S 15 can be configured with a 12-core Snapdragon X Elite or a 10-core X Plus processor. However, the Elite chip will be offered as a base version with a slower integrated GPU and no dual-core acceleration. Both configurations can be supported with up to 32GB of memory and 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD storage.
This model will have two USB-A, two USB 4.0 Type-C, one HDMI 2.1, an audio/microphone combo jack and a microSD card reader. Additionally, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 are supported. Asus Vivobook S 15 will come with Asus' new StoryCube application.
AI Powered StoryCube application
The StoryCube app will edit, manage and export RAW photo and video files using AI. Asus claims the Snapdragon's NPU power will also speed up other AI workloads in apps like Windows Studio Effects and Cocreator. Vivobook S 15 is designed specifically for digital artists, graphic designers and other visual creators.
The Vivobook series offers a more budget-friendly alternative to the ProArt series. While some Vivobook Pro models have discrete GPUs, most Vivobook laptops use integrated graphics. The Snapdragon X series is Qualcomm's answer to Apple's M series chips, but the true performance of this series will not be known until the laptops are released.
Vivobook S 15 price and release date
Asus Vivobook S 15, with its Snapdragon X Elite processor, is available for pre-order from certain retailers abroad. However, shipments will not begin until June 18. The $1,399 version will have 32GB of memory and 1TB of storage and will be available exclusively at Costco. The $1,299 16GB/1TB version will be available from multiple retailers. The Snapdragon X Plus model will be released later this year, but its price has not been announced yet.
It seems that Asus aims to offer users a smarter and more efficient computer experience with the new model. While Snapdragon X series processors promise high performance, the innovative AI features of Vivobook S 15 will allow users to do their work faster and more effectively. With this new model, Asus aims to gain a strong position in the market by offering the latest technological developments to its users.
