Apple’s new wearable device will come with Siri and camera

New information has come to the fore about the new generation wearable device projects that Apple has been working on for a long time. According to information provided by Bloomberg writer Mark Gurman, Apple continues to develop a “camera-equipped necklace” close to the size of AirTag. It is also stated that the company is working on camera-equipped AirPods and smart glasses projects. It is stated that since the company has not yet officially confirmed these products, there may be changes in the early stages of the development process.

While Gurman’s latest report focuses mainly on camera-equipped AirPods prototypes, it is stated that Apple’s necklace-type accessory project, defined as “pendant”, is also actively continuing. In previous information, it was stated that this device will be the size of AirTag and will offer a similar approach to the Humane AI Pin. Despite this, it is said that Apple plans to position the product as an accessory connected to the iPhone rather than a standalone device. Thus, it is stated that a significant part of the processing load will be covered directly by the iPhone.

It is stated that the device will have a constantly active camera and a microphone for Siri commands. However, it is reported that the product will not include components such as a screen or laser projector. Although it is stated that Apple will use a special chip in the device, iPhone integration will play a critical role due to limited processing capacity. In addition, it is noted that the company is still deciding whether to use speakers on the accessory.

Some details about the use of the necklace-type device were also shared. Accordingly, the product can be attached to clothing with the help of clips or used as a necklace by threading a rope or chain into a special section on the device. In the news published by The Information in January, it was claimed that Apple developed this project within the company as an “AI pin”-like product. While it was stated in the same news that the product could be put into use in 2027 at the earliest, it was also stated that there was a possibility that the project could be canceled completely.

Apple focuses on iPhone integration in smart glasses project

Another product category that Apple is working on continues to be smart glasses. According to the information previously shared by Mark Gurman, the company aims to introduce its first smart glasses model at the end of 2026 or early 2027. However, it is stated that commercial sales may be postponed to a later date. It is stated that Apple focuses especially on tight integration with the iPhone and high material quality in this product group.

Similar to Meta Ray-Ban models, Apple’s smart glasses will also have a built-in camera system. It is said that these cameras, which will allow users to take photos and videos, will also transfer data to Siri and Apple Intelligence system. Thus, it is aimed to make features such as walking navigation more advanced. In addition, it is stated that the device will have speaker and microphone systems for listening to music, making phone calls and receiving Siri notifications.

It is also among the information received that Apple is testing different options regarding glasses design. It is reported that the company is working on large rectangular frames similar to the Wayfarer style, thinner rectangular models and oval-shaped alternatives. In addition, it is stated that various color options such as black, ocean blue and light brown are being evaluated. It is stated that the cameras can be offered with vertically positioned oval lenses.

On the other hand, Apple is not expected to include an augmented reality screen in its first smart glasses model. This approach points to a similar usage concept to Meta’s existing Ray-Ban glasses. While it is known that Google and Samsung are also working on smart glasses, there were allegations that the two companies were collaborating with Warby Parker. Apple, on the other hand, seems to prefer to develop hardware design and software integration completely under its own control.

It is noteworthy that camera, artificial intelligence and iPhone connection are at the center of Apple’s wearable product strategy. Despite this, it is not yet clear when the company will officially announce these products or what features they will offer to the end user. As the development process continues, there is a possibility of changes in the design and technical structure of the products.
