Apple works on Airtag 2: Here are the expected features

Apple has introduced many new products such as iPhone 16, new iPad and Mac models in recent weeks. So, what will the company’s next major hardware announcement be? According to recent rumors, Apple’s next product may be the second generation Airtag or Airtag 2.

Airtag was introduced in 2021 as a tracking device that made it easier to find lost items. This small, but functional accessory, which is integrated into Apple’s ecosystem, allows iPhone users to follow their devices and other items. Three years have passed since the first model was released, and Apple is preparing to re -launch Airtag with significant innovations.

Bloomberg editor Mark Gurman, known for his reliable leaks of Apple, claimed that Apple plans to introduce the new Airtag model in the middle of 2025 in a report published in 2023. More recently, Kosutami, one of the reliable leakage sources, claimed that Apple could launch Airtag 2 in May or June 2025.

In line with this information, it is estimated that the new generation of Airtag is only a few months to release. The current model works integrated into Apple’s “Find” network, synchronizing with iPhone and other Apple devices. However, Airtag 2 will be equipped with much more advanced features than the existing model.

According to leaks, the second generation Airtag will come with three important innovations:

  1. Advanced ultra wide band (UWB) chip: The new Airtag will be equipped with the second generation Ultra Wideband (UWB) chip, which Apple uses on iPhone 15 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 models. In this way, it will have three times longer range compared to the current Airtag. The Precision Finding for People feature on iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 models helps users find their friends in crowded environments and offers up to 60 meters. With a similar technology, the new Airtag is expected to make it much easier to find lost items.
  2. Security measures and follow -up protection: The existing Airtag models were sometimes subjected to criticism due to the possibility of abuse. In particular, unauthorized follow -up events required Apple to take new security measures in this field. In Airtag 2, the internal speaker is said to be safer and protected against unauthorized intervention. Users say that there will be a mechanism that makes it difficult to disable the speaker in the new model. This development aims to prevent malicious uses such as confidential follow -up.
  3. Better integration with Apple Vision Pro: Apple’s mixed reality glasses Vision Pro is one of the company’s newest technological products. Airtag 2 will have a stronger integration with this device. However, it is known that Apple has not yet made a clear explanation for how this integration will work. Nevertheless, Airtag 2 is estimated to be easier to find objects lost with augmented reality support.

When will Airtag 2 be introduced?

Airtag 2 is expected to provide hardware developed features, while it is said that it will not have a significant change in design. The existing Airtag has a small, round and portable structure. Apple is estimated to aim to increase the durability and battery life of the device by maintaining a similar design in the second generation model.

The first generation of Airtag was introduced in April 2021. In the past years, Apple had made some improvements on the software side of this device, but it did not offer a major update in terms of hardware. However, the latest leaks show that Airtag 2 will offer a much more advanced follow -up experience.

Although there is no definite explanation on when the new generation of Airtag will be introduced, it seems likely to be announced in the middle of 2025. This device, which will be strictly integrated into Apple’s ecosystem, is expected to work in strong harmony with both iPhone and other Apple products.
