Apple will perform artificial intelligence operations on the device with the A18 Pro

According to a new report based on Apple's supply chain sources, the Apple A18 Pro will have a larger die area compared to its predecessor, the A17 Pro. It is stated that this large area is important to provide the processing power required for artificial intelligence.

The news in question is based on a report prepared by Haitong International Tech Research analyst Jeff Pu. It is stated that Apple's new chip can thus perform artificial intelligence operations on the device. Some Android phones can already achieve this thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor.

The A18 Pro's increased die area means the chip can accommodate more transistors or custom components. This hints at the highly advanced Neural Engine. Apple could leverage AI in its 2024 iPhones using a combination of on-device AI and Google's Gemini AI, which it is rumored to want to license.

In Pu's note, he specifically underlines that the A18 Pro is the 6-GPU version, which confirms the existence of the non-A18 Pro chip with a lower GPU.

Apple may include A18 Pro processor in iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max

Previous reports stated that Apple would include the A18 processor in all members of the iPhone 16 series. However, it is said that the company will prefer the A18 Pro processor in the 16 Pro and Pro Max models, and the standard A18 in the 16 and 16 Plus.
