Apple will make it easier for iPhone owners to switch to Android

The European Union’s newly enacted Digital Markets Act (DMA) continues to give gifts to users in the field of technology. It can be said that these are welcome moves, especially for those who want Apple to offer a “more open” and “less restrictive” mobile ecosystem. In this direction, Apple is taking new steps that facilitate the transition to the Android platform.

The Cupertino-based company had to allow iOS users in the European Union to access third-party application stores due to the Digital Markets Act. Browsers and alternative payment systems that use their own rendering engines were also granted a visa in this context. The transition from iPhone to Android is also among what the law brings.

Apple will have a more “user-friendly” way for users to transfer their device to “another branded phone” by fall 2025. A document published by the company regarding its compliance efforts with the DMA shows this change.

Apple will also allow Safari to be deleted

What DMA brings is not limited to these. The Cupertino-based company will enable data transfer between internet browsers on iOS devices by late 2024 or early 2025. In addition, as of March 2025, it will be possible to change the default navigation application for users in the EU.

In addition, those who prefer another browser will now be able to remove Safari from their iPhones and iPads. However, for this we need to wait until the end of the year.
