Apple may be preparing the largest-screen iPhone ever

It has been suggested that Apple may be preparing the iPhone model with the largest screen ever, with the iPhone series expected to be introduced next year. According to information shared by China-based leak source Digital Chat Station, the company is testing a new display panel of approximately 7 inches in size within its supply chain. It is not clear which product this panel, which is still in the development phase, is prepared for. Despite this, the allegations indicate that Apple is evaluating different screen sizes for the high-end iPhone model, which is expected to be introduced in 2027.

Apple’s plans for 2027 have been on the agenda of the technology world for a long time. Since it will be 20 years since the company introduced the first iPhone, remarkable innovations in terms of design are expected to come during this period. Various previous reports have suggested that Apple is working on a new design that makes the screen bezels even thinner and whose front side consists almost entirely of glass. While it was initially rumored that this would be a special anniversary model similar to the iPhone X, recently published information shows that this design can be transferred directly to the new Pro models.

Apple may be testing a new iPhone screen that’s around 7 inches in size

According to the information provided by Digital Chat Station, the physical screen size of the panel tested by Apple is 6.96 inches. Despite this, it is stated that the company can position this screen as 7 inches on the marketing side. Considering the 6.9-inch screen spoken for the current iPhone 17 Pro Max, the increase may not seem large, but it could mean the largest iPhone screen used in Apple history.

The leak source does not share exact information about which model this screen belongs to. However, it is estimated that the panel may be evaluated for the top-level Pro Max model, which is expected to be introduced next year. It remains unclear whether this model will come under the name iPhone 19 Pro Max or whether Apple will choose a different naming due to the 20th anniversary. Some industry sources had previously suggested that the company could use the name iPhone 20 directly after the iPhone 18 series.

On the other hand, it is known that Apple tests many different prototypes simultaneously during the product development process. Many display technologies and hardware solutions tested in the company’s laboratories are removed from the development process before reaching the final product. For this reason, it is not certain that the 7-inch panel in question will actually be used in an iPhone model that will be available for sale. The presence of a tested component in the supply chain does not in itself confirm that it will go into mass production.

However, a larger screen option seems logical, considering the design approach that consists of a front side consisting almost entirely of screen and emphasizes a single-piece glass appearance, which is shown as one of Apple’s long-term goals. The increase in screen area along with the thinner bezels may enable a wider viewing experience with a limited increase in the overall size of the device.

For now, this information is merely a leak based on supply chain sources and has not been verified by Apple. Despite this, the claims about the iPhone models prepared by the company for 2027 show that Apple is considering important changes in both design and screen size.
