Apple Brings Pause Video Recording Feature to iPhone with iOS 18

Apple is preparing to offer iPhone users a significant camera update with iOS 18. This new feature will allow users to pause the video while recording and continue the same recording later. Discovered by 9to5Mac, this innovation will come to all iOS 18-supported iPhone models. iOS 18 is expected to be officially released on September 16, and this feature will provide great convenience, especially for content creators.

This new feature from Apple fulfills a function that has been requested by users for a long time. Currently, it is not possible to stop and continue a recording while shooting video on the iPhone. Users have to shoot multiple videos and then go through a separate editing process to combine them. However, with iOS 18, this difficulty will be eliminated and users will be able to shoot multiple scenes in a single recording without interrupting the videos.

New camera functions coming with iOS 18

With this update, which appeared in the beta version of iOS 18, there will now be a “stop” button in the iPhone Camera app. While recording a video, users will be able to stop the recording by pressing this button and start it again at any time. When the stop operation is performed, the function of the button will change and turn into a “record” button. In this way, users will have the opportunity to shoot different scenes in the same video. This feature stands out as an innovation that will save time, especially for those who create social media content.

Additionally, users will be able to switch to different camera lenses while video recording is paused, allowing them to make adjustments such as focal length or zoom during shooting. For example, you can pause a recording that started with a wide-angle lens and then switch to a telephoto lens for closer shots. This is a very useful feature for users who want to create professional-looking videos.

This new feature has begun testing in the “Release Candidate” beta version of iOS 18, which was released to developers after Apple’s iPhone 16 event. Other innovations introduced with the iPhone 16 during the “It’s Glowtime” event include the “Camera Control” tools that will only be used on this model. However, the ability to pause video recording is not limited to the iPhone 16 and will be offered to all iOS 18-supported iPhone models. This means that a wider range of users will be able to benefit from this function.

Apple’s efforts to improve iPhone cameras over the years continue with updates like these. With each new iOS version, users are offered more practical and functional features. A simple but effective function such as pausing video recording is expected to make a big difference in daily use. Especially those who produce content for social media platforms will have the opportunity to produce more professional content with this innovation. The pausing video recording function will bring the flexibility provided by professional cameras to mobile devices, bringing the iPhone to an even stronger position in the field of videography.

This innovation, offered by Apple with iOS 18, will enable iPhone users to shoot more comfortably and effectively. Although it is not a comprehensive camera update, this feature, which offers a significant functional improvement in daily video shooting, will also speed up the video editing process. This new function of iOS 18 will make a significant difference, especially for users who produce video content on their mobile devices.
