Anker Unveils New 100W Nano Charger That’s Small as an AirPod

Anker has announced its new 100W Nano Charger. This device is significantly lighter and more compact than its previous models. However, this reduction in size has also meant the sacrifice of some important features. The company’s new charger comes with a few USB ports ditched compared to its predecessor. Still, this device stands out in terms of size and portability, and could be a remarkable option for those looking for a compact and powerful charger.

Anker’s previous Prime 100W GaN charger offered the ability to charge more devices simultaneously with two USB-C and one USB-A port. However, the new Nano model sacrifices this flexibility and is limited to a single USB-C port. The company’s move could be seen as a strategy to reduce the size of the charger.

Lighter, more portable, but with a single port

Anker’s new Nano Charger is designed to be about 26 percent smaller and 30 percent lighter than its predecessor, the Prime 100W GaN model. The device weighs just 60 grams in total, making it quite portable. According to Anker, the charger’s dimensions are very similar to Apple’s AirPods Pro 2 charging case, meaning the device is small enough to fit in a pocket. Made to fit US outlets, the device’s volume with the charging prongs closed is only 17 percent larger than the AirPods Pro case.

In addition to the device’s compact build, there have also been some ergonomic improvements. The company says the prongs have a matte finish to make it harder for the Nano to unplug. This finish is intended to help the prongs sit more securely in the outlet. Anker claims this design will help the device stay plugged in more securely, but the effectiveness of this feature has yet to be confirmed in independent testing.

The Nano is notable for the limitations of having a single USB-C port. This is one of the biggest disadvantages of the device for users who want to charge multiple devices at the same time. Especially when charging devices that require high power, such as laptops, users may have to carry extra adapters to charge their other devices. This may offset the advantage of the device’s compact structure to some extent.

Pricing and availability

Anker’s new 100W Nano Charger is now available for pre-order overseas, with the first orders sold out. The device is priced at $44.99, with shipping set to begin in mid-September. With this new model, Anker aims to offer a charging solution that is both lightweight and powerful. However, its single port may be a significant limitation for some users.

While this charger offers a practical solution for those who want to charge a single device, it is limited when it comes to multi-device use. Users have to carry different adapters to charge additional devices, which can somewhat negate the ultra-portability advantage of the device.

Anker emphasizes portability and lightness of this model, while also trying to emphasize speed and reliability. With its 100W power, the Nano can quickly charge laptops, tablets and other high-energy devices, and can be practical for daily use. However, for users who want to charge more devices, its single-port structure can be a disadvantage.

Anker’s new 100W Nano Charger is a device that aims to strike a balance between portability and power, but that balance may limit users in scenarios that require multi-device charging.
