Android 15 begins rolling out to Pixel devices with new security and privacy tools

Android 15, the latest version of the Android operating system, is now available on Pixel phones and tablets. The version, released last month as part of the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), was not initially available for Pixel devices. As of today, the new version has reached Pixel users and brings new features with it. This widespread deployment of Android 15 includes both user privacy-enhancing innovations and special improvements for foldable devices and tablets.

With the update, Google is also introducing new security tools that can be used on many devices with Android 10 and above, in addition to Pixel devices. The artificial intelligence-supported theft detection system and the Remote Lock feature, which allows devices to be locked remotely, are among the most notable developments brought by Android 15.

Secret Area and advanced security tools

“Private Space”, one of the prominent innovations of Android 15, offers users the opportunity to store some applications on their phones in a secret section. According to Google’s statement, applications for personal use such as social media, dating or banking applications can be moved to this area. Apps added to the Private Space do not appear in the list of recent apps or notifications, and access to this space is only possible with additional authentication. Users can completely hide the existence of this area if they wish. Thus, personal information can be protected even when the phone is in the hands of someone else.

Theft Detection Lock, another important innovation for security, uses artificial intelligence algorithms to automatically lock the device when it detects it has been stolen. In addition, thanks to the Remote Lock feature, users can lock their own devices remotely via another Android device or phone number. Google states that these features are not limited to Android 15 only, but can be used on many devices with Android 10 and above.

The improvements offered for foldable phones and tablets also aim to improve the user experience. With Android 15, the application bar can be fixed or hidden whenever desired. In addition, multitasking becomes more practical by bringing frequently used applications together and matching them under a single icon.

New Features with Pixel October Update

With Android 15 arriving on Pixel devices, Google has also started rolling out the October Pixel feature update. As part of this update, the Night Sight feature, which allows better photography in low light, is added to the Instagram application. However, more control is also provided over the Audio Magic Eraser tool, which is used to remove unwanted parts from audio recordings.

Google also plans to activate a new feature that makes it easier to quickly move media files between Pixel devices in the coming weeks. With this feature, file transfer will be easier when Pixel Tablets and Pixel phones are brought side by side.

While Android 15 draws attention with its privacy and security-oriented innovations, it also stands out with its developments especially for foldable devices. These updates are not only for phone and tablet users, but also contribute to the spread of the operating system to a wider ecosystem. New security tools and personal data protection measures offered by Google aim to provide a safer experience for Android users.
