Amazon’s new Kindle models were accidentally put on sale before the official announcement

Amazon has not yet officially announced the new generation of Kindle e-book readers, but UK retail chain John Lewis has put the 12th generation entry-level Kindle and the new Kindle Kids Edition on sale for a short time on its website today. After this situation was noticed by Good e-Reader, the product pages of both models were removed.

Previously, the 12th generation Kindle Paperwhite model was listed on eBay and this ad was also removed. This recording included images of the device’s packaging, and it appeared that the new Kindle came with slight upgrades. The most notable change is a slightly larger seven-inch E Ink display.

John Lewis’ entry-level 12th-generation Kindle product page appeared to confirm details leaked in September. According to these leaks, the new Kindle model will come with a six-inch E Ink screen with a resolution of 300 ppi and the contrast ratio of the screen has been increased. Additionally, the front light of the device will now be 25 percent brighter at maximum brightness level. However, in this model, the color temperature adjustment found on the more expensive Kindle Paperwhite and other Amazon E Ink devices will not be available.

According to the product page, the 12th-generation Kindle also offers a new dark mode that inverts the colors of the black and white E Ink display, making reading more comfortable in the dark. While faster page transitions on the device also attract attention, it is stated that it will come with 16 GB storage space. John Lewis launched the new Kindle for £94.99.

The new generation Amazon Kids Kindle Edition has also been leaked

At the same time, the store also revealed the 12th generation Amazon Kindle Kids Edition model. This model has the same technical features as the entry-level Kindle and features an E Ink screen that offers brighter backlighting and better contrast. Like previous Kindle Kids Edition models, this new version comes with a case, a two-year extended warranty, an Amazon Kids+ subscription that offers e-books and audiobooks for children, and a control panel with parental controls. John Lewis had this model on sale for £114.99.

Past Kindle Kids Edition models offered free content for a year with an Amazon Kids+ subscription. But according to John Lewis’ records, the 12th-generation model will only come with a six-month Amazon Kids+ subscription.
