X has announced that it will be rolling out support for passkeys in its Android app. The microblogging service first rolled out the security option to iOS users in the US in January. Passkey support was rolled out globally in April.
Encrypted passkeys began to become popular as an option for tech companies and online services last year. This approach to account protection creates a digital proof of identity.
Passkeys are a stronger alternative to passwords that can be guessed or stolen, and password management apps are also moving to offer passkey support to their users.
How to enable passkey support in Android app X?
X users still need to set a password to create an account. However, once you log in to the app, passkey support can be activated with a few taps. This feature can be accessed via the “Additional password protection” heading under the Security tab.
