Adding artificial intelligence power to music production with Logic Pro

Apple today introduced all-new Logic Pro 2 for iPad and Logic Pro 11 for Mac, delivering breakthrough professional experiences for songwriting, beat making, producing and mixing. The new AI-powered Logic Pro offers incredible studio assistant features that enhance the music-making process and provide assistance to artists whenever they need it. Moreover, in doing so, it allows artists to have full control over their creativity.

These features include: Session Players, which include new Bass Player and Keyboard Player features in addition to the popular Drummer features in Logic Pro; Stem Splitter, which allows you to create and work on separate sections of a single audio track; and ChromaGlow, which can instantly add warmth to tracks. Logic Pro 2 for iPad and Logic Pro 11 for Mac will be available in the App Store starting Monday, May 13.

“Logic Pro gives artists everything they need to write, compose and mix great songs, and our newest features add a whole new dimension to that creativity,” said Brent Chiu-Watson, Apple's Director of Global Product Marketing for Apps. : “New AI-powered updates to Logic Pro combine with the unparalleled performance of the iPad, Mac and M-series Apple chip to offer creative professionals the best music-making experience in the industry.”

Session Players deliver breakthrough experiences to creatives by providing an AI-powered, personalized music suite that responds directly to feedback.one Drummer took the music production industry by storm when it was introduced as one of the world's first generative music systems over a decade ago. Today, it is gaining strength with both keyboard improvements and the addition of new virtual Bass Player and Keyboard Player features. While Session Players enrich the live playing experience, they also allow artists to maintain control at any stage of the music-making process.

Bass Player has been trained with input from today's best bassists, using advanced artificial intelligence and audio sampling technologies. Users can choose from eight different Bass Players and manage their performance with complexity and intensity controls. Meanwhile, they can benefit from advanced parameters for transition notes, muted notes, ghost notes and missing meter beats. Bass Player can keep up with the chord progression, or users can choose from 100 Bass Player loops for new inspiration. While the chord sequences of a song can be determined and arranged with Chord Track, the virtual Bass Player accompanies this process flawlessly. Additionally, with the Studio Bass plugin, users have access to six new carefully recorded instruments, from acoustic to electronic, all inspired by today's most popular bass tones and genres.

With Keyboard Player, users can choose from four different styles designed in collaboration with top studio musicians and crafted to accompany a wide variety of musical genres. Keyboard Player can play everything from simple block chords to extended harmonic chord voicings with a nearly endless number of variations. As with Bass Player, chord sequences can be added to the song and edited with Chord Track. In this way, Keyboard Player also adapts to the flow. In addition, thanks to the Studio Piano plug-in, users can choose from additional sound shaping options and can adjust three microphone positions, pedal noise, key noise, sound sample extraction and sympathetic resonance.

Many musicians perform at their best without the pressure of a real studio environment. These moments are often found in recordings in Voice Memos, on an old demo tape, or recorded during a live performance. When re-listened, it becomes clear that these recordings are fascinating performances that are almost impossible to re-play and they become history. Now, with Stem Splinter, artists can remix inspiring moments from any audio file and split nearly entire mixed audio recordings into four separate tracks: Drums, Bass, Vocals and other instruments.2 By separating the tracks into their components, it becomes easier to add effects, insert new parts or change the mix. Stem Splitter, supported by artificial intelligence and M series Apple chip, works at light speed.

ChromaGlow models the sound produced by the combination of the world's most prestigious studio equipment by utilizing artificial intelligence and the power of M series Apple chips. By capturing the perfect tone with five different saturation styles, users can add extremely realistic sound warmth, sound dominance and sound power to any track they want. It is also possible to choose between modern clean sounds, the nostalgic warmth of old times or more extreme styles that can be shaped and adapted according to taste.

Introduced last year, Logic Pro for iPad was quickly adopted by creatives. Designed from the ground up to take advantage of touch, Logic Pro transforms the iPad into almost any instrument imaginable and delivers a complete studio experience on the go, thanks to the iPad's portable design. With the power and performance of the Apple chip, musicians can create complex multi-track projects, create instrument sounds with custom software, take advantage of a full-featured professional mixer, and explore the app's extensive collection of effects plug-ins.

Alternating between iPad and Mac is made easy with project rotation, which allows users to make music on the go and continue developing their projects when they return to the studio.
