LG’s new portable screen can be used as both a television and a monitor

LG announced the StanbyME 2 Max portable display, which can be used in different rooms within the home. The 32-inch touch screen brings together monitor and television functions in a single device and reminds us of Samsung’s The Movingstyle series with its design approach. The product, which can be easily transported thanks to its wheeled stand, can be detached from its stand and used independently when necessary. Thus, users can move the screen from the work desk to the living room or bedroom in a short time.

LG StanbyME 2 Max has a 32-inch 4K resolution LCD panel. Offering a 60 Hz refresh rate, the screen comes with an edge-lit LED structure and provides touch support. In addition, the screen can be used in both horizontal and vertical positions. In this way, it becomes possible to display vertical content suitable for mobile devices as well as traditional video content. On the image side, support for Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG formats contributes to providing wider dynamic range in different types of content.

LG StanbyME 2 Max stands out with its internal battery and webOS platform

On the audio features side, the device has stereo speakers placed on the side. In addition to Dolby Atmos support, there is also AI Sound Pro technology. This system aims to provide a more balanced experience by automatically adjusting the sound character according to the type of content watched. In addition, it seems that the device is designed to appeal to both entertainment and daily use scenarios.

One of the striking features of StanbyME 2 Max is its internal battery. According to the information shared by LG, the device can be used for up to 4.5 hours on a single charge. The battery can be recharged via USB-C connection. Thanks to this structure, it is possible for users to use the screen at different points of the house without needing a socket connection. This feature, which provides the advantage of wireless use especially in areas such as the kitchen, balcony or bedroom, distinguishes the product from classical monitors.

Connection options are also extensive. The device, which supports Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, Apple AirPlay 2 and Google Cast, has three HDMI inputs. One of these HDMI connections has eARC support. In addition, two USB Type-A connections are also offered. In this way, game consoles, media players and different peripherals can be easily connected.

On the software side, LG’s webOS operating system was preferred. Powered by the company’s α8 AI Processor 4K Gen3 processor, the device brings the smart television experience to the portable form factor. More than 400 free linear television channels can be accessed through the LG Channels service. This service offers a free content approach similar to Samsung’s TV Plus platform.

LG has set a price of $1,299.99 in the US for the StanbyME 2 Max. This figure is higher compared to Samsung’s 27-inch The Movingstyle LSM7F model. While Samsung’s touch screen model offers QHD resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate and HDR10 + Adaptive support, it is sold with a price tag of $ 999 after a $ 200 discount.

On the other hand, Samsung’s 32-inch 4K The Movingstyle Essential model, which does not include a battery, is offered for sale at $ 499. The 43-inch 4K version of the same series is also listed for $699. However, these models do not have an internal battery. Therefore, the main factors that determine LG’s higher price include the battery system that provides portable use and the independent use-oriented design.
