Oppo brought the Reno16 and Reno16 Pro models, which it announced in China last month, to global markets with some technical changes. In addition, the company expanded the Reno16 series with two new models named Reno16 F and Reno16 FS. In particular, Oppo Reno16 F is among the notable members of the series with its high-resolution front camera, large battery and new artificial intelligence-supported hotkey.
Reno16 F comes with a 6.57-inch Full HD + resolution AMOLED screen. Offering a 120 Hz refresh rate, the panel has 10-bit color support, 1,400 nits peak brightness and 397 ppi pixel density values. In addition, the optical under-screen fingerprint reader can also be used for biometric authentication. The front camera is placed in the perforated design in the middle of the screen.
The back of the phone features a 3D Pop Planet Design design, which is available only in the Pop White color option. The camera module, which has almost square lines, includes a 50-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 50-megapixel resolution 3.5 times telephoto camera with OIS support, and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with autofocus. This structure puts the Reno16 F in a different position than many mid-range models that focus only on the main camera.
Oppo Reno16 F stands out with its high-resolution selfie camera and large battery
On the front, there is a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle selfie camera with autofocus support. Offering a 100-degree viewing angle, the camera can record 4K video like the main camera. In addition, Oppo adds a new feature called 4K Auto Straighten Video to this model. This system can automatically correct tilts of up to approximately 5 degrees by keeping the horizon line constant during recording. The aim is to obtain more balanced images in videos shot in motion.
On the hardware side of Reno16 F, the MediaTek Dimensity Energy 7300 processor works. The device is offered with up to 12 GB LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256 GB UFS 3.1 storage options. Oppo has not yet announced how many years of software and security update support will last for the phone, which comes out of the box with the Android 16-based ColorOS 16 operating system.
On the battery side, the global Reno16 F model comes with a 7,000 mAh capacity battery and 80 W fast charging support. However, in the version sold in Europe, the charging speed is limited to 45 W. In addition, the European model carries a battery with a capacity of 6,500 mAh. This difference shows that hardware features vary depending on the region.
Other features of the phone include a physical shortcut key called AI Snap Key, Splash Touch support that makes it easier to use wet screens, and water and dust resistance certificates at IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K levels. Color options are listed as Pop White, Twilight Violet and Dream Purple.
On the other hand, the Oppo Reno16 FS model shares largely the same features with the Reno16 F introduced to the German market in terms of hardware, according to the information on the company’s official website in Germany. The main difference between the two models is the storage capacity. While the Reno16 F sold in Germany has 256 GB of storage, the Reno16 FS model comes with 512 GB of storage. Both models offer a 6,500 mAh battery and 45 W fast charging support.
On the price side, in Germany, the version of Reno16 F with 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage is offered for sale for 549 euros. The version of Reno16 FS offering 8 GB RAM and 512 GB storage has a price tag of 649 euros. Both models are available for pre-order on Oppo’s official website in white and purple color options. Considering the hardware features, Reno16 F and Reno16 FS aim to differentiate in the upper middle segment, especially with their high-resolution front camera, telephoto lens and large battery capacity. On the other hand, the fact that the software update period has not yet been announced stands out as one of the main points that creates uncertainty for users planning long-term use.
