The company emphasizes that with this update, the Family Hub platform has gained a structure that continues to develop throughout its lifetime.
Jeong Seung Moon, head of the R&D team in Samsung’s Digital Home Appliances business unit, stated that home appliances should not be limited to the features at the time of purchase. According to Moon, thanks to software updates, devices can become smarter over time and better adapt to user habits. In line with this approach, Family Hub can now recognize more food products, understand commands given in natural language, and deliver content according to the daily routines of the household.

The updated AI Food Manager system can detect a much wider range of products thanks to improved AI Vision technology. According to the information provided by Samsung, the system can go beyond the 40 basic products previously defined and recognize packaged foods as well as fresh vegetables and fruits with a higher accuracy rate. In addition, thanks to cloud-based artificial intelligence support, regional content and popular branded products can also be detected by the system. OCR, or optical character recognition system, used in packaged products, enables more accurate results to be obtained by reading product labels.
In addition, Family Hub can analyze users’ consumption habits and give warnings when it notices that frequently used products are running low. This aims to make shopping planning easier and reduce food waste. It is stated that such automatic reminders can be beneficial for practical use, especially in busy daily life.
Another area that Samsung renewed within the scope of the update was Bixby. With the new version, the voice assistant has been improved to understand more natural speech. It is stated that users can now perform transactions with expressions close to daily spoken language without having to use specific and short command patterns.
