Vivo and Honor are preparing a large-screen foldable phone

After Huawei’s recently introduced large form factor foldable phone Pura X Max, claims about similar devices began to increase. It is said that Samsung may show a similar device alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 models at the Galaxy Unpacked event, which is expected to be held in July this year. In addition, there are various rumors that Apple is working on the first foldable iPhone model and that this device, which may be called “iPhone Ultra”, may be introduced in September. The latest information shows that Vivo and Honor are also turning to the large-screen foldable phone segment.

According to new leaks from Chinese sources, Vivo’s Vivo X Fold 6 model, which is under development, may offer remarkable improvements, especially in terms of screen print. According to the sensation source called Smart Pikachu, the company aims to significantly reduce the folding mark compared to previous generations. The screen bending problem, which foldable phone users have been criticizing for a long time, is among the main issues that need to be solved technically for many manufacturers. It is stated that Vivo focused more on this issue in the new model. In addition, it is stated that users who prefer large-screen foldable phones should follow the X Fold 6 model closely.

Another noteworthy detail in the leak was about Vivo’s product strategy. Allegedly, the company plans to shift its future foldable phone series to larger “book-style” designs. While many foldable models today retain their long and narrow screen structure, devices with larger screens can offer an experience similar to tablet use. It is considered that the wide screen ratio provides advantages, especially in areas such as multitasking, document editing and media consumption. However, there is no clear information yet about whether Vivo will launch this design this year.

Honor’s large foldable model may arrive in 2027

Another remarkable claim came from Honor. According to the news source named Guan Tongxue GiM, Honor has been working on a large form factor foldable phone for a long time. The shared visual also reveals the possible design of the device. The image shows that there is a triple camera system and an additional auxiliary screen on the back. In addition, it appears that the device offers a wider viewing area in horizontal use.

It is stated that the model that Honor is working on can offer an experience close to a small tablet when opened. The development of large screen optimizations, especially in the Android ecosystem in recent years, has expanded the usage area of such devices. Google’s software developments for foldable devices on the Android side also make it easier for manufacturers to turn to different form factors. Despite this, no information has yet been shared about the technical specifications of the device.

There is no short-term expectation regarding the launch date of the device. According to the information revealed, Honor’s wide-screen foldable model is not expected to be introduced before the first quarter of 2027. It seems that the competition in the foldable phone market may be shaped not only by thinness and durability, but also by screen ratio and usage experience in the coming period. Brands such as Vivo, Honor, Samsung, Huawei and Apple are expected to offer new options in this field with different design approaches.
