One UI 8.5 has started arriving on Galaxy S25 models in the US

Samsung has started rolling out the stable One UI 8.5 update for the Galaxy S25 series in the US. The update, which was launched in South Korea last week, was expected to reach other markets shortly. According to the source named CID, which shares on the X platform, the update has now reached Galaxy S25 users in the USA. The new version, which comes with build numbers S938USQU9CZDP and S938UOYN9CZDP, is approximately 4.4 GB in size and carries the April 2026 security patch.

With One UI 8.5, some software features offered by Samsung in the Galaxy S26 series are also coming to older models. Although the update first started with the Galaxy S25 family, it is expected to spread to the Galaxy Tab tablet family along with the Galaxy S24 series, foldable Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip models in the coming days. The first distribution list shared by Samsung includes the Galaxy S24, Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Tab S10 and Galaxy Tab S11 series.

The new version has notable changes in visual design. Samsung has created a simpler appearance in the interface by using more transparency effects and dynamic transition animations. On the lock screen and home screen, wallpaper placement is automated. The system automatically edits photos, especially those containing people or pets, to prevent clocks and widgets from obscuring the image. In addition, weather effects can be added directly to wallpapers.

Galaxy AI features expand with One UI 8.5

One of the most striking parts of the update was the additions made on the Galaxy AI side. Users can now edit images with text commands. It becomes possible to change a person’s clothing color, add an object to an empty table, or combine two different images in a single frame. Samsung’s artificial intelligence system automatically harmonizes the edited sections.

In addition, the “Photo Assist” system is no longer limited to photos of people or pets. Different filters and style options can be applied to all images. The artificial intelligence-supported visual production feature also works more seamlessly. Users can create different variations without having to save images at each step.

There are also remarkable innovations on the Bixby side. Samsung states that it has made improvements that enable the voice assistant to better understand natural language. Users can now change device settings or ask more comprehensive questions without uttering full command sentences. In addition, Bixby conversation history can also be viewed within the application.

The camera application has also been significantly updated with One UI 8.5. The document scanning system now works faster and makes it easier to create multi-page PDFs. Thanks to the dual camera recording feature, the front and rear cameras can be used simultaneously. Real-time LUT preview support, developed especially for content producers, makes it possible to see the color correction in Log video footage during shooting.

The scope of connection and sharing features is also expanding. Quick Share now supports file sharing with AirDrop-enabled Apple devices. Thus, Galaxy users can transfer data more easily with iPhone, iPad and Mac devices. Samsung is also making features such as storage, internet sharing and display connectivity more accessible among family members.

There are also various innovations in battery management, security and accessibility. While the renewed battery screen shows daily usage details more clearly, improved power saving options aim to extend battery life. In the security section, the new protection system that automatically locks the device in case of unsuccessful authentication attempts draws attention. The Knox Matrix panel also begins to centrally display the security status of devices connected to the Samsung account.

Samsung is expected to roll out the One UI 8.5 update to more countries in the coming days. It is stated that the distribution process will accelerate soon, especially for the Galaxy S24 series and foldable models.
