Meta strengthens age verification system on Instagram and Facebook

Meta announced the new age verification technologies it developed to ensure that young users have a safer and age-appropriate experience on its platforms. The company strengthens protection mechanisms especially for young accounts on Instagram, Facebook and Messenger by combining artificial intelligence-supported systems, age-appropriate default settings and parental guidance tools. The announced innovations aim to detect accounts that do not meet the minimum age criteria faster and to apply platform rules more consistently. Among the innovations announced by the company, artificial intelligence systems that perform contextual analysis between profiles stand out. The systems developed by Meta can evaluate whether an account meets age criteria by analyzing user behavior, profile information and different interaction signals.
