Intel announces new solution to reduce fan noise in gaming laptops

Intel announced a new solution to the high fan noise and heating problem frequently encountered in gaming laptops. The new certification and optimization program called AI Quiet Plus, developed by the company’s Chinese unit, aims to provide a quieter and cooler usage experience during gaming. This system focuses on reducing fan noise and surface temperature without compromising performance.

AI Quiet Plus, as its name suggests, is not a directly downloadable software or a stand-alone hardware component. Instead, it is positioned as a certification program that manufacturers can add to their devices if they meet certain criteria. This shows that the impact of this technology is not limited to the processor alone, but spreads to the overall design of the device.

The basis of the program is the NPU, or artificial intelligence accelerator, in Intel’s Core Ultra 200HX Plus series processors. This unit; It analyzes data such as temperature, system load, power consumption and fan speed in real time. Thus, the system can activate the required cooling in a more balanced and timely manner, instead of suddenly increasing the maximum fan speed under load, as in the classical approach. This approach contributes to both noise reduction and more stable heat management.

How AI-powered cooling is changing the laptop experience

Under the new certification program, manufacturers must keep not only cooling performance, but also acoustic levels, keyboard and case temperatures, and battery efficiency within certain limits. This aims to provide a more holistic user experience for devices with the AI Quiet Plus label. In addition, it seems that the system is a continuation of the “AI Quiet Gaming Laptop” initiative previously introduced by Intel China.

When evaluated in terms of daily use, this approach has several important consequences that directly reflect on the user. First of all, loud fan noise that occurs during long gaming sessions can be significantly reduced. However, the decrease in the temperature felt on the case and keyboard surface means a more comfortable experience, especially for those who use the laptop extensively. In addition, an improvement in battery consumption is expected thanks to the more efficient cooling system.

On the other hand, it is stated that the AI Quiet Plus standard is currently limited only to Core Ultra 200HX Plus processors announced in March 2026. The first certified laptop models are expected to be available by manufacturers such as Asus, MSI, Lenovo and Acer towards the end of 2026. This shows that the technology will find a place in upper segment gaming laptops in the short term.
