Qualcomm confirmed the claims that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 family, which has been on the agenda for a while, will consist of two different chipsets. The company’s latest promotional post on X clearly shows that there will be two different options in the new generation high-end Snapdragon family. Although Qualcomm has not yet announced the official names of the processors, available information shows that they will be called Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro. Both chipsets are expected to be introduced at the Snapdragon Summit to be held on September 22. Thus, Android phone manufacturers will be able to have two Snapdragon 8 Elite options for next year’s upper segment models, which differ from each other in terms of performance and positioning.
In the brief introduction shared by Qualcomm, the expressions “Two changes the game”, “Opportunity doubled” and “Dual 8 Elites” are used. Although these statements do not directly name the products, they are a clear sign that two Snapdragon 8 Elite models will come. In the leaks that have been going on for months, it was stated that Qualcomm was preparing two separate models instead of a single flagship chipset in this generation. The company’s sharing thus confirmed the basic part of the rumors, but it has not yet been announced at what points the two processors will differ from each other in technical terms. Although it is possible that the Pro model will have differences such as higher CPU and GPU frequencies or different memory features, it is necessary to wait for Qualcomm to share official technical details.
Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro may stand out on the performance side
One of the first clues that the difference between the two models may be evident, especially on the performance side, was the AnTuTu 11 result claimed to belong to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro. As a result of the recently released test, it is stated that the Pro model reached 4,835,412 points. However, a single synthetic test result of a processor that has not yet been released should not be evaluated as a direct indicator of real usage performance. The phone’s cooling system, memory and storage configuration, software optimizations and testing conditions can significantly affect AnTuTu results. Despite this, the result supports expectations that Qualcomm can position the Pro model above the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 in terms of performance.
Production technology also seems to be one of the remarkable changes in the new Snapdragon family. According to current information, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro are expected to come out of a 2 nm class production process. Switching to smaller production geometry could theoretically allow achieving higher performance within the same power limits or reducing energy consumption at a similar performance level. However, shrinking the production process alone does not mean that battery life will extend or phones will heat less. Qualcomm’s CPU and GPU architecture, frequency preferences and power limits imposed by phone manufacturers will continue to determine actual usage results.
Qualcomm’s preparation of two separate Snapdragon 8 Elite options may also increase the hardware differences between upper segment Android phones. While the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 can be used on a wider range of flagship phones, it seems possible that the Pro version will be reserved for performance-oriented and higher priced devices. Besides, the difference between the two processors may not only consist of clock speeds; Distinctions can also be found on the side of GPU configuration, AI processing capacity, memory support or connectivity features. Since Qualcomm has not confirmed these details at this stage, the exact picture will be revealed during the Snapdragon Summit on September 22. The company’s latest post clarifies that at least in the 2026 model Snapdragon 8 Elite family, two different high-end options will be offered instead of a single processor.
The leaked high AnTuTu result for Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro and the 2 nm production process for both models show that Qualcomm is preparing to raise the performance bar. On the other hand, a more meaningful comparison for the user can be made by evaluating measurements such as power consumption, sustainable performance, temperature and battery life together after the processors reach commercial phones. The level of price and performance difference between Standard and Pro models may also affect which chipset phone manufacturers prefer. The launch on September 22 will therefore clarify not only the technical specifications but also how Qualcomm will distinguish the two models from each other. What is certain for now is that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 generation will come with two separate chipsets.
