Vodafone is launching 5G simultaneously across Türkiye

Vodafone announced that it will launch 5G service in Türkiye simultaneously in 81 provinces and 922 districts as of April 1. This step will increase the total number of countries to 23 with the operator’s inclusion of Türkiye in its global 5G network, while paving the way for higher speeds, lower latency and new generation digital services on the user side. It will be possible to see a serious jump, especially in the mobile internet experience.

According to the information shared by Vodafone, the company has accelerated its infrastructure investments in the last 5 years and has made a network investment exceeding 100 billion TL. During the same period, millions of kilometers of field work was carried out in preparation for the 5G transition. Looking at this chart, we can clearly see that the 5G launch is not just a technology transition but the result of a long-term infrastructure strategy.

5G launch all at once across Türkiye

Vodafone will provide 5G signals throughout Türkiye at the same time with the launch on April 1. This scope offers a wide reach across the country, unlike the classic gradual transition model. The company stated that this launch will be one of the largest 5G expansions globally in terms of coverage and user scale.

The impact of this approach on the user side is quite critical. Because 5G experience will be possible on the same day not only in big cities but also in many cities and districts in Anatolia. This can directly contribute to reducing the digital divide.

With the launch, Vodafone announced various campaigns to accelerate the transition to 5G:

  • Up to 50% discount on selected 5G supported phones
  • Unlimited internet gift for 1 day to be chosen within 4 days
  • Unlimited application-based usage with new “Unlimited Application Packages”

Discounts, especially on the device side, aim to reduce the hardware cost, which is one of the biggest barriers to the transition to 5G. Likewise, the unlimited internet campaign will make it easier for users to experience the new generation connection.

Home internet and corporate solutions are expanding

Vodafone is positioning 5G not only on the mobile side, but also on the fixed internet and corporate solutions side. The company’s RedBox product aims to offer fiber-speed internet with 5G support without requiring installation. Moreover, it is noteworthy that the price has been reduced by half for the “use everywhere” feature.

On the corporate side, three main solutions stand out:

  • Customized 5G mobile networks (MPN)
  • High speed corporate internet that does not require fiber
  • New generation mobile tariffs supported by artificial intelligence

These solutions can provide significant efficiency increases, especially in production, logistics and smart city applications. When we look at it from the perspective of industrial transformation, we can say that 5G offers not only speed but also operational flexibility.

Vodafone tested 5G in Türkiye not only in theory but also with real projects. The smart factory application and MEXT collaborations implemented with BSH demonstrated the value of technology in the field.

The hologram-supported signature scenario performed at the promotional event also demonstrated the low latency advantage of 5G. Instant transfer of a signature sent from a distance of 20 km through a robotic arm provided a concrete example of how this technology can be used in industry.

Vodafone’s 5G launch is positioned as the beginning of a new era in mobile communications in Türkiye. Considering the scope of infrastructure preparations and the campaigns offered, we can say that the operator aims for a rapid user adaptation. In the coming period, we can see that 5G will become much more visible in daily use as device access increases and the application ecosystem develops.
